I think that is a struggle for many christians, especially professionals. I too deal with that problem from time to time, but had to be honest with myself, that if I missed a program on television or made a pact with myself that I would get up a little earlier in the AM to read my devotional and then when I got home I would read a bible verse for the day before I watched Television or went on the internet. then went to bed a little earlier so that I could study some before bed. with slight changes I found that I could make time, if I just wanted to more. That was the problem for me, deep down I had to admit that I liked watching television more than I liked studying. I think it is a trick of the enemy to make us feel that we are too busy to study, I say this with no judgement, as I have been guilty of the same thing. But I do believe that if we truly looked at our schedules than we would find that if we would make small sacrifices that we would find the time to study. Good luck

I do also. And I think most people do.
For me, personally, I get way too caught up in life... and start thinking that other things are more worth my time than something else. I'm in high school, so that's a factor... but my pastor told me to basically get my priorities straight. If I have time to watch TV, I have time to read the Bible. It's just a matter of choice.
I heard about a girl who, in college, didn't eat breakfast unless she did her Quiet Time. I try and do mine in the morning so I have a good start/feel for the day. I have a book that helps because it gives a short passage and has an explanation and application. It's easier to learn from that book rather than try to gain something from it from my own point of view, you know?
Also, you can always be in prayer. Whether you're in the car, or in the shower, or anything really, you can have a constant conversation with God.
Basically, just think about it this way --- when you don't have enough time, MAKE TIME. :)

You must encourage your psychological self to really get into the reading, so that nothing else will seem more exciting than sitting down to read that Bible. Try to get all your work done ahead of time, and use the reading as a motivator, something that you actually make yourself look forward to at the end of each day. No matter what, you should stick to a set schedule, so that if you skip a day you have to read twice as much the next day. Without that kind of self motivation the task will simply never get done, and you will just always find more and more excuses to put it off. Good luck!

I struggle too. The quickest I've read the Bible was in about 4 months, but that took about two-three hours a day. Never again. The first time I read the Bible, it took a decade, but there was a big break of four or five years in the middle. currently, I'm on my fourth time going through the Bible. After four years, I'm still at the books of the kings. It's a hard struggle, but it's worth it.

Try not thinking of it as The Bible, read it as you would any book. You should read each of The Letters in one go, as that is how they were written. A modern paraphrase translation helps with daily reading, but you need a more accurate version for proper in-depth study. You should also have a concordance (such as Strong's or Young's) and books about the history, society and culture at the time. This helps you get the context of the scripture.

When you have a busy lifestyle, particularly when you're juggling with work, school, maybe even wife and kids, it's not easy to keep your reading plans on schedule. I also run into the same situation as you from time to time. What I do to mediate the problem is to read the bible in bed.....even if it's just one chapter or maybe even a couple of verses. It not only gives me the opportunity to catch up on my reading, but it also helps me relax and get into a closer spiritual connection with the "big man" before signing out for the day. Pick a particular moment of the day when you're on your own.....maybe during lunch break, or even coffee break....Like I mentioned before, it doesn't matter if its a whole chapter, or a couple of verses......the important thing is that you're putting in the effort.
God Bless!

Yes I have a hard time reading it every day. I'm shocked to hear myself say this, but sometimes I just think it's boring. And I love the Lord, too! You know what is great, though, and I heard this someplace; each morning, either read one Psalm or one Proverb before you start your day. That's not so hard! I tell you what, I'll try doing it too, we can do it together *smile*.
May God give us both the desire to not start a day without His Word!

I'm with you there, man. It is a sacrifice to actually buckle down and do your devotions, and Satan is always throwing things at you as distractions like: Television, other books, and the list goes on and on.
You actually have to sit down find a quiet place and talk with Christ about it and then dig into the Word... It may be hard, but it is a sacrifice and it is a well worth one at that.

All the time I do, and I feel really guilty!! I have a 16 month old daughter to contend with and a puppy aswell, and with all the housework and what have you to do, i really don't have time as much as I should.
I'm lucky if I read it a couple of times a month, but I really should read it more!! Right there with U!

This is common for everyone. This fact alone should be proof enough that this is no ordinary book. I will use the feeling of not wanting to read or being distracted as my cue that it's Bible time.
May GOD richly bless you.
