A 9 inches round pan is usually 1 1/2 inches and holds about 5 cups.
If you want to bake your cake in one pan, I would choose a 10 by 2 inches round, which holds about 11 cups. As this pan is deeper, I would increase the cooking time a little to allow heat to reach the center.
A 9 x 9 x 2 inches, square, could be a second option; it holds about 10 cups.
My last option would be a 13 x 9 x 2 inches, rectangular, holds about 12 cups.
If you are seeking to bake your cake still in two pans the suitable ones are:
8 x 2 inches, round, holds about 6 cups. Deeper, increase cooking time.
8 x 8 x 1 1/2 inches, square, holds about 6 cups.
As a rule of thumb, if the pan is deeper, increase time. If the substitute pan is shallower, reduce cooking time.
Fill pans no more than 2/3 when cooking, to allow for expansion, but when you are measuring in cups, fill the pn to te top.
Good luck with your baking!

The info is in the pudding cake. The 9 x 13 screams of a lazy baker that's egocentric with their frosting and oven area. They call it "sheet cake" for a reason. while unclear, carry out for the guy who will bake you a coronary heart-formed cake.

assuming you're making a cake and in one pan rather than two?
You can make a sheet cake on a cookie sheet
or one 9 x 11.5 will do it
or two square 8" is also equivalent...

I would use a 13x9 shallow pan. Especially for cakes or casseroles.

9x13 would be comparable. Watch your baking time and "doneness" test, just to be safe. It will take longer for the middle to heat through.
