Example one: someone walks up to a person and says Jewish people will burn in hell.
Example two: someone walks up to a Muslim and says all Muslims must conform to Christianity.
You would most certainly agree that the people who suggested such things should be jailed for hate speech.
Hate speech:any speech which promotes hatred or insolence toward certain classes of people.
Now say a christian walks up to a non-believer and says Jesus is the only way while taking him through the ten commandments.
Its the same thing.I don't believe in myths; and speech such as this can infuriate me to the point where I may strike back with violence.Everybody feels the same way.Any form of evangelizing is SPIRITUAL RAPE that cannot be tolerated any longer. We must propose bills that include Christian evangelizing as hate speech. We cannot tolerate this suffrage any longer. Please no negative comments.THIS is my question and I will not tolerate any insidious remarks from irrational Christians.

You quoted hate speech as "any speech which promotes hatred or insolence toward certain classes of people." And you quoted correctly. And I do agree that such speeches should and must be banned.

Then you made a seaway to evangelization. You said that speeches that will make you angry should be banned and you pointed out a missionary talking to you about the bible. Then you conclude that it should be banned because they are hate speech.

This is one of the most absurd logic I have ever heard. First, hate speech is aimed at a particular class while evangelization is not. The freedom to tell others your religion is protected by the Constitution in the same way that the freedom not to believe is also protected. It is a value of democracy.

Your examples of hate speeches are also wrong for they do not incite violence rather a personal opinion on a matter. If they say that Jews will burn in hell so we must throw them in the fire is a hate speech because it is inciting violence.

Your proposition is no difference to an authoritarian state that denies freedom of expression and religion. Shame!

Whoa! First of all, there is an amendment which gives us freedom of speech, and another freedom of religion.
If your reaction to someone talking to you about something Biblical is to strike back with violence, YOU have issues. Were you never taught that it is never right to hit someone? Where is your ability to "let it go"? Spiritual rape? Wow - you're way over the top. If your spiritual beliefs are so fragile as to be assaulted by someone's words - perhaps you should look to yourself for some answers.
As witness to your basic intolerance of anything you don't embrace - what is this "I will not tolerate any insidious remarks from irrational Christians" - sound very much a threat.
Sorry you're so bitter - you must not have any joy is your life.
Oh, and I'm NOT an irrational Christian. I'm an educated, rational, full out believing, practicing joyful Christian - and proud of it.

Well you have a right to your opinion. It sounds like you have been hurt by a Christian and I am sorry on behalf of us all, I know it happens. What is most unfortunate is you wake up every day carrying this resentment while the one who hurt you is probably free as a bird. Hope you lose your resentment and get on with YOUR life,

To answer the question, where does 1st amendment end and hate speech begin?? thats really what you are asking. I dont think its hate speech to offer something. Look at advertising. They offer you life improvements all the time. "I hate you because you are not a Christian" is what you hear. "I love you and I want you to be happy" is what they are trying to say.

What is really needed is more open minds. The athiest should try to appreciate the Christian beliefs and views and vice versa. There will be alot less people being offended and squaballing, and more people respecting each other.

Thanks for hearing my 2 cents, and I'm sorry you are hurt. Hope you get free!

"Hate Speech" is just another term for being politically incorrect.
It is the product of Situation Ethics.
Heaven forbid that anyone is ever offended in their life!

If a parent corrects his/her child, it might be "hate speech" because the child's feelings will most certainly be hurt.
Human beings by nature sometimes offend one another. That's the reality of human nature. Feelings cannot be legislated.

"You would most certainly agree that the people who suggested such things should be jailed for hate speech.
Hate speech:any speech which promotes hatred or insolence toward certain classes of people."

Technically, your question and its premise have offended me as a Christian. Should I have you charged with "Hate Speech?" You would only proclaim your right to free speech. And as long as free speech reigns in our culture, one needs to acknowledge that it is a two edged sword cutting both ways.

The God of the Bible has never been afraid to rebuke nor to admonish anyone in either the Old Testament, nor the New Testament. He even encourages us to use the Bible to rebuke, admonish, correct, and teach.

Though considered a myth by you, it is sacred to millions of us.

I don't like what you just said, to me that is a hate crime that shouldn't be tolerated any longer.Your hate speech which promotes hatred towards Christians is a serious crime, and all people like you need to be locked up and the key thrown away.

It goes both ways doesn't it.

I'm a Christian and I don't push my beliefs on anyone. You have a right to believe as you want, but if you don't like Christians move to a Muslim Country.

::sigh::

I hear so many people shouting, "FREE SPEECH, FREE SPEECH!"

If we had free speech, we wouldn't have censorship.

If we had free speech, all these Christians really wouldn't like the fact that we could say whatever we wanted to them - and their children – and there’s nothing they would be able to do about it.

We strive for free speech, but truth be told, we don't really have fully, all-encompassing FREE speech. This is due to two types of people: 1) people who take it past the line and use free speech to INTENTIONALLY offend others, and 2) people who so overly sensitive that they take personal offense even when none is intended.

Regardless of what Christians are "meant" or "supposed" or even "required" to do, proselytizing can be offensive. There are ways of doing it that are not offensive, that people will even still take offense to it. In these cases, it is the proselytizee, not the proselytizer, who is at fault. However, there are many means of proselytizing that IS offensive, overtly so, and many people who use these tactics. In cases like this, it is the proselytizer and NOT the proselytizee at fault.

I feel that no matter what religious belief you hold (or don’t hold), telling someone about it after they have made clear that they are not interested in hearing it, should be punishable by law. Don’t necessarily put it on a “don’t ask, don’t tell” basis, because many people like to strike up conversations about it by explaining about themselves, and many others enjoy joining these conversations, but someone should at least be given the chance to make known that s/he is NOT interested, and that is where the conversation (on that topic, at least) should stop.

I believe that speech advocating violence IS against the law currently in the USA. However, telling someone that they are going to spend eternity in Hell is not advocating violence but rather warning about dangers...

By the way, you cannot control who answers your questions on here nor can you pass a law in the USA against free speech unless it violates the rights of someone else or endangers them (such as yelling FIRE! in a crowded theater.)

Even if a bill was proposed do you really think that people would abide by it? Definately not. Sometimes people say hurtful things about other religions and their beliefs on purpose and sometimes it is a complete accident. Some christians believe it is their duty to convert the other people from different religons to their religion to be saved. It all comes down to a difference in opinion. You will always have that no matter how many bills are passed. Just thought I would share my thoughts and opinions. =)

yelling fire in a crowded theater is done with intent of harming people

but Christians are speaking the true in love when they are sharing the gospel however you probably can get me to agree that anyone sharing the gospel not out of love should consider taking a vow of silence.

so not the same on 1 count... if you had a friend who was doing something that might seriously harm himself if you didn't talk too him... would you be a friends if you didn't warn him

and not the same on a 2nd count... if you had the best thing in the world and kept it a secret from others... would that be loving...no

and not the same on a 3rd count... obeying a command of God to glorify God is protected not only by free speech but the free excersize of religion... although might be something you don't care to hear but its not for your harm its for your good... there is freedom of speech there is no freedom from offense but maturity comes when we respectfully handle our disagreements

There are actually not any rules against hate speech. What are you speaking approximately? only greater lies from Republicans. Wow, greater solutions helping and attacking hate speech rules... Are all you human beings idiots? Can somebody please supply me evidence of a single hate speech regulation on the books in any state? There are NONE! inner maximum businesses might desire to have such regulations. colleges might desire to have codes of habit that limit hate speech by pupils, yet pupils comply with abide by those codes while they sign up. There are actually not any hate speech rules. None, no longer for adults besides. Such rules might violate the 1st modification. There are rules against harassment, making threats, and so on. that's no longer the comparable as hate speech! The freaking KKK holds marches in line with annum in finished uniform, nazi indicators on demonstrate, with racist indicators and racist slogans and racist speeches - and that's all completely legal!!! you may walk down the line shouting the N be conscious in case you prefer to. you will possibly desire to get overwhelmed up, yet you will no longer get arrested!
