By that i mean - truly just platonic love (and he is NOT gay or she is NOT lesbian) such that approaching each other physically had/will never cross their minds.

Yes, I had a very good friend, a woman. We used to go out together, spent lots of time together and we always had great time. We just got along very well. She also looks very attractive but we both told each other we are like a brother and sister to each other. The friendship continued even she started dating with a friend of mine. We discussed about many intimate questions too. After she split with his boyfriend (my friend), she felt down but I never made an attempt to date with her.
When I found a girlfriend the situation changed a lot. It was because my girlfriend got furious each time I met or saw any other woman. Even watching TV was difficult because there are women sometimes.
Well, they say love is blind but afterwards I think my girlfriend's jealousy was sick. After spending 3 years with a jealous girlfriend, I lost contact with most of my friends, also this sister of mine. She got married an has children, keeps busy at work and with her family. We sometimes see each other but she has her husband with us, he's very nice and has become a friend too. Also I am married and my wife accepts the past, and luckily joins the meetings. Anyway the friendship isn't that close anymore. I just have a nice memory of that great sister- and brotherhood I used to have.
I'm 100% sure that a plain, and also good friendship is possible between a man and a woman.

Well I do have have a few male friends with whim I couldn't even imagine having a relationship but I'm not really that close to them than to some of my girlfriends. Still i think it is possible to be in a platonic relationship with a guy.

The idea that it won't cross their mind is hard to fathom, but they may respect each other out of good conscience and stay good friends for life. Forbidden fruit is nice to keep off limits. No need to spoil a good friendship over loss of self control.

Rare- but almost impossible- esp w a younger guy - that has raging hormones and not so much self control-so they say they have a sexual thought 6 times a minute or some outrageous number-and forget about being room mates-D
