In the Spike Lee (African American) movie, "Do The Right Thing", a central theme is that African Americans themselves hold lighter skinned AA"s in higher esteem than Darker skinned ones. Even earlier in the century, AA's formed clubs (e.g. Jack and Jill) that tended to hold lighter skinned people in higher regard.
As for white people, they feel closer (or have less fear of the unknown) to those that look most like themselves.

No one wants to admit to it but it's true. When you watch TV or look in magazines it is the lighter skinned African Americans that are idolized. Such as Beyonce, Halle Berry, and so on. I don't think that people do it on purpose though. It is drilled in a lot of people that lighter is better. Therefore they treat lighter better.
All shades are pretty and should be treated as such. Things have changed a whole lot over the years.

I know that a lot of people do this, and some can't stand anybody with dark skin at all.
I wasn't raised that way. I treat everybody the same. My parents raised me to be color blind, so skin color is meaningless to me. Too bad others don't see things like this.

i imagine your generalizations are incorrect. an excellent type of a similar features that you've defined females with darkish pores and skin of having are a similar features that an excellent type of ladies with mild pores and skin have also. a similar holds actual with the features that you suggested females with mild pores and skin have. I have met lots of the most superficial, materialistic, gold-digging darkish-skinned women human beings ever (ex. my cousin is this way and he or she's darkish-skinned). i'm mild-skinned too and folk have idea me to be stuck up, specifically women human beings, notwithstanding it would not make experience because the position ever i flow, I communicate with anybody because i love human beings. i'm also very knowledgeable and presently have a occupation. I have also determined to flow for my carry close's degree really quickly to open up even extra opportunities. i imagine an excellent type of folk bypass judgments off of basically the way someone looks and that i imagine that's incorrect. definite, i want to purchase and gown properly on each occasion i flow out, and that i want to have my hair finished yet that would not advise that i'm materialistic or a gold-digger. i do not imagine i'm prettier than darkish-skinned females both. I have considered eye-catching darkish-skinned females in the previous, and that i'm no longer superficial because i'm now previous adequate to comprehend that personality outweighs looks palms down. i do not imagine that we ought to continually examine out colour as a lot as we do. we ought to continually examine out everybody as a human being and under no circumstances assume them to be a similar way as some others of their proposed crew ought to were because in actual life, there is continually an exception to any stereotype so your generalization will under no circumstances word to anybody in that crew.

First of all most of us dont. And it is all the way u are brought up in your family. If you are white and are brought up in a small town where every one is like u then when you see some on diffrent u are more likely to stare or make a coment.

There is no pretty answer for this question.Racisist whites are more accepting of folks who look like them...Not all whites, only the racist ones. It is sad in our society that this is even a valid question...Or that someone has to ask it...Shows how far America HASN'T come....
