We are designed to live forever on the Earth. God's wisdom is such that we will never find the full limit of it. On that basis, we will always be learning. On a human level, we may have many potential interests that we can learn about and become proficient in and take time to enjoy it.
Let me list some of the things I would like to learn. Bear in mind that to become completely proficient in each of these things would take at least one current life time, approximately 6 to 8 decades. This should be considered as a maximum average.
Learn to play several musical instruments:
Violin - - - 60 yrs
Drums- - - 60 yrs
Guitar - - - 60 yrs
Piano - - - 60 yrs
This part of the list has the potential to be very long. How many musical instruments can you think of? How many musical instruments is it possible to desgin and make? Making musical instruments could add another life time to each instrument on the "playing" list. Lets say that there are 40 musical instrument to learn how to design, make and play, this part of the overall list could reach a minimum of two and a half millenia.
If you applied this length of time to exploring in detail other types of occupation, say 2 or 3 millenia each, you just have to immagine how many potential occupations you might become interested in. Lets say you currently have the potential interest in a dozen occupations. That might mean you will have enough stimulating interests to keep you going for as much as 24000 years. By that time, you will have probably discovered another dozen occupations which you could try, or you could take up one of your previous ones again. The potential to find eternal life on the Earth highly stimulating all the time is within us. It depends on whether we want it and can see it.

Dude do you read the scriptures? Study
Rev 20:4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them. And I saw the souls of those who were beheaded for their witness of Yahshua and for the word of Yahweh; the Law and the Prophets, and who had not worshipped the beast, nor his likeness, neither had received his mark in their foreheads nor upon their hands; and they lived and reigned with the Messiah a thousand years—
5 But the rest of the dead did not live again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection—
6 Blessed and holy is he who has part in the first resurrection; on such the second death has no power, but they will be priests of Yahweh and of the Messiah, and will reign with Him a thousand years.
Revelation 20:7-15—
7 And when the thousand years are expired, Satan will be loosed out of her prison,
8 And will go out to deceive; seduce to lead astray, the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth: Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle; the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.
9 And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city. And it came to pass that fire came down from out of heaven and consumed them.
10 And the devil, who deceived them; seduced and led them astray, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet had been cast, and will be tormented a day and a night because of the ages.
11 And I saw a great white throne, and Him Who sat on it, from Whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.
12 And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before Yahweh. And the books were opened; and another book was opened, which is The Book of Life. And the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and Death and Sheol; the grave, delivered up the dead which were in them. And they were judged, every man, according to their works.
14 And Death and Sheol were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
15 And whoever was not found written in The Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.

Well perhaps they have holidays or something. Maybe you could spend a few hundred thousand years in another part of heaven, or take a trip down to hell to see how the other half live.

I believe that when we die we become part of something bigger. Our soul is only a piece of the pazzle. Being here, on earth, that's the difficult part. Life here feels lonely and hard. When we die we return to where we belong. We become complete. We're comfortable. So no, i do not think that feeling that happy could ever be boring. Hopefully.

If you believe... as I do... then you wont be bored, because all discontent comes from earthly needs and those earthly feelings are from the impatient body's needs... they do not come from soul, so, all will be as it was before your birth on earth, where you once existed with your maker, and you will once again be a part of the universe, connected, contented, and evolving. And who says then your job is done... guardians for mortals abound in spirit!

If it turns out that I'm wrong and there is a god and life after death, I'll find some way out of it. I refuse to be dictated to by some allegedly omnipotent **** that couldn't even be bothered to prove his existence, but would punnish those who don't follow him. On the other hand, if he turned out to be forgiving I would expect him to give me the oblivion I desire.

You're confused. When you die, you exit spacetime. A day or a billion years have no meaning. Maybe it'd be easier if you thought about it as an 'end note' ringing into eternity. Heaven would be a beautiful chord. Hell would be a dissonant 'missed note'.

Unlike Knobby I love this question! I think that after we die it will either be the best thing we could ever experience (heaven) or the most torment one could experience(hell) other than that I'm not too sure.

Well, considering I hope to gain eternal life on earth and you can never know all that God knows and I will be building and planting and harvesting and swimming and you get the picture along with never growing old or getting sick and I will have a wife, I think life will be perfect. There is so much to do here on earth.
