I am not a Vegetarian, but I want to be one as i reckon it's a good way to be healthy. how do i commence? Do I start by not eating any meat or dairy at all? And how about my protein intake? What greens or any food can I eat that is high in protein?

Long time vegetarian here. It's good you're doing your research first before diving head in, which is why so many people say they get ill from vegetarian diet.

First... vegetarian=no meat (no chicken, fish, that is meat!!! but dairy and eggs are acceptable
vegan=no dairy, meat, or animal products (none of the above including honey)

Be vegetarian first, and work towards a vegan diet, as it can be overwhelming for some.

You need a balanced diet of both greens, grains and protiens. I don't know your size, age etc. so I can't tell you how much protein you need. In any case, please visit goveg.com which have all your answers written by registered nutritionalists.

you can also visit www.yorkanimalrights.org (click on the link section) for more help.

There are also many vegetarian groups and associations in your area that you can get in touch with.

Vegans are vegetarians that do not eat dairy or eggs or any animal byproducts. I think that you could be a vegetarian which will be easier to get protein. Eggs are a great way to get protein. Though it is not a green, soy has a lot of protein. You could get protein bars, but if your concerned with health, I wouldnt have those bars or any kind of processed supplement. Meat is healthy, of course, but I assume you have other reasons for changing diet. Good luck!

well to become a vegetarian you have to be really serious about committing. But i would start off slow with only one piece of meat a day then a week until you ready to not eat meat at all. But to get protein from another source i would have to say vitamin pills.

Don't. It is potentially unhealthy, because the amino acid content of vegetable protein is not well balanced and can be deficient in certain amino acids which the body requires but cannot make. Meat proteins, by contrast, are well balanced among amino acids. There is no convenient list of the amino acids in vegetable proteins, so insuring that you ingest all of the required ones is not easy to do.

Stop eating meat and supplement your diet. There is a difference from being a vegetarian and a vegan.

Our bodies need meat. If you give it up, make sure you eat beans to supplement your protein. Won't you miss that juicy steak??

You don't have to become a vegitarian to be healthy. being healthy means excercising, socializing, eating healthy foods including vegetables, and thinking smart.
