Have a talk with Mom. She'll be upset when she finds out, and she will find out.

You should definitely NOT sneak the kitten in. If you've been asking for this long of time and your mother is still declining, then I doubt that any explanation you could come up with would change her mind, and your new little kitten will find itself right back in the humane society.
As for having two cats in the same home... there is no guarantee that your cat will get along with the new kitten. Cats are picky creatures, and you don't want your old cat getting jealous of the kitten, or being mean to it. Also, the kitten might not get along with your dogs.
There are many more cons than pros in this case, and I highly suggest you and your mother decide together whether to get a kitten or not. If she still says no, remember that she IS the authority figure.

well it is your moms house and she will be the one paying the bills and buying the food so ultimately it is up to her... she will be the one accepting a LIFETIME commitment to the pet...you very likely will be moving out at some point or going to College and wont be allowed to take the kitten (very few landlords allow pets) so what would happen to it if your mom didnt want it in the first place??

it is risky to bring an unvaccinated pet into a home

you should always try to have animals around the same age for feeding reasons.. if the current cat is an adult then you still have to feed the kitten - kitten food for 1 yr.. how will you manage that??? PLUS what if the current cat doesnt want a friend??

so basically what I am saying is I love pets myself BUT its your moms house so its her choice - you can beg her but that will just make her put up a wall to the idea... sneaking a kitten in could jeopardize the kittens health or the health of your current cat - but rememeber this: eventually you will grow up and can buy your own home and have what ever pets you want!

Take my advice, DO NOT SNEAK ANY PETS IN!!! I did this in my childhood days and all it did was cause trouble with me and my family. If I were you I would be happy with what wonderful pets I have now. I wish I was as lucky as you and had even one dog. If you are really bent on getting another kitten then I would step up my "eagerness" a notch. Do some extra cleaning, do even better in school, sports or what ever extra activity it is that you do. Really prove to your Mom how responsible you are with your pets and show her that having a kitten would be no problem! And for now I would work on only one kitten, or even a nice older cat from the pound.

As a parent I can tell you quite openly, do NOT sneak the kitten in! That is a BIG way to lose your parents trust. Just talk to them and tell them why you want the new kitten and regardless of what they say, don't throw a fit. The more calm you stay about things and prove your responsibilities with the animals you have, the higher the chances are that will allow you to get a new one in the future. Good luck!

Don't get another kitten! I know lots of people who have got a second cat and it is not worth it! Cats prefer to live by themselves its their nature. If you get another cat be prepared for urine spraying, vets bills and missing cats. They might seem fine at first but when the kitten reaches maturity there will be problems. Even if they tolerate each other they wont need each others company. It is rare for even litter mates to show any affection for each other when they grow up.
Plus its probably your mother who will end up cleaning up and paying for the kittens food and vet bills. Ask yourself why you want another cat (they don't stay kittens for long), you already have one, just give it more attention, or if you really love kittens help out at your local humane society or SPCA, you will see how much work they really are for free.

Just so you're quite aware, the kitten is going to grow into an older cat just like your current one did. Spend your love on the cat you already have. If you seriously want to sneak one in then you are clearly not ready to take on another life.

What worked for me was "It followed me home Mom can I Please keep her?" No really talk to your Mom again Tell her the dogs have each other to play with . Let her meet the Kitten it sounds like you come from a pet friendly home and who could resist a cute little kitten but promise to help take care of it and clean out it;s litter.

Definately talk to your mom. Most places require you to be 18 or have parental consent to get a cat because they don't want it to end up abandoned.
As for whether it's better to have one or two it depends on the cat. I had 2 female calicos and when one died I got the other a female chartruese to play with and they NEVER got along but then when the calico died and I rescued a female kitten (from a dumpster) and my chartruese loved it, now they freak out when separated even for a few minutes.

by all means talk to your mom. if you were tosneak it in,you might make her mad at you. if you tell her someone else said it was ok,you could cause problems between your mom and that person plus destroy your trustworthyness with your mom by telling her this.(been there tried that one)you can try to tell her that taking care of 2 is just a little more work than one,and that you would assume the responsibility of the job. as far as owning 1 or 2 it depends on the cat. yours has 3 dog friends. ours, will not accept another cat or dog.(but she does accept our rabbit-rikki,and she did accept the hedgehog and snake)

You have enough pets. DO NOT SNEAK THE KITTEN IN. Your mom will see it and tell you to get rid of it and it will have no home.
