ok he's turning 21 im taking him out barhopping the night of his birthday, i have to decide what the perfect shot for him to take at every bar is, he is just back from a year in iraq so its a much needed party time. all opinions welcome

Be careful not to overdo it--there IS such a thing as alcohol poisoning. A few shots are quite enough. And I'm Glad he made it back OK!

Well for my 21st birthday last year the girls at my local bar had me doing muff dive shots but those are messy because there is whip cream involved. If he is ok with hard alcohol then tequila is the way to go. If he doesn't mind getting messy the go with the muff dive.

If it really is his first time drinking, or at least heavy drinking, You want to go light on the stuff... you want a party, not a hangover nightmare.
Oh, I forgot... if he's got a sweet tooth and well anchored guts, try my own favorite: the rusty nail : Drambuie and Jack Daniels.

Chocolate cake shot. If they don't know how to do it, it's Frangelico and Rose's Lime Back.
It really does taste like a chocolate cake and it's a more adult version of it for your birthday!

Most young guys really enjoy Jaegerbombs...but my personal favorite on my 21st and still is Lemon Drops.
