We were giving him rice, chicken, & cottage cheese for a few weeks when we first got him for loose poops. He is now 14 wks. . I've given him a Tbls. or two every once in a while now in his bowl next to his Royal Canin..It's the first thing he goes for in his bowl. We were wondering if it's healthy for him to have it daily or a few times a week.

I would recommend just once or twice a week, it is possible for dogs to become lactose intolerant like humans. Stick mainly to his food for the source of his diet and ise cottage cheese and yogurt as a treat.

I had asked my vet about how best to feed my dogs. His answer was, dry dog food only. He told I should not give them any people food, and the dry dog food is much better for dogs than the canned stuff. Another vet had also told me to check the labels of the dog food I buy and make sure that it indicates it has been "trial tested". And, always feed the dog the SAME brand and kind of dog food. If and when you ever need or want to change their brand or type, it is best done very gradually by first just mixing in a little bit of the new stuff with the old stuff and then gradually working up to the point where it is eventually all the new stuff.

I always use cottage cheese in mine :) IF i have a couple exttra dollars that week I will mix cottage and ricotta with an egg to bind the mixture. Also I will mix an italian blend of grated cheese (mozarella, parm, asiago) with the wet cheeses to thicken the mixture. Always top it with the mozzarella and parm. Cant have too much cheese!

Absolutely not! Dogs are not able to digest dairy properly as they cannot break down the proteins. This causes bloating and gas and in some cases cause twisted intestines due to muscle spasms. The vitamins may seem to be good as others have stated but not while mxed with dairy products.Lactose intolerance is not something that should be "tested" to see if your dog has.

Dogs milk they are breast fed as puppies have a different protien content. This is why dog food manufacturers list protein content for owners so the dog will not become constipated or have diahrhea.

NEVER FEED DOGS DAIRY!!!! It could end up creating a lot of pain for them just like you get gas pains AND if their insides get twisted up it can only be corrected surgically. In escence you could kill your dog.

As long as it's not upsetting his system, many people who feed their dogs all-natural diets (fresh chicken, veggies, etc.) instead of dry dog food use cottage cheese regularly. A few spoons a day won't hurt him, and obviously, he loves you for it!

Dairy products are not good for your dog's dietary intake on a regular basis. Most people food should be avoided as well, especially if they are highly processed or seasoned foods. There are a lot of things that we eat that are okay for you pet in their raw and natural form or prepared simply without seasoning. Ask your vet what can be given to your pet and what should be avoided. It is best to find a good quality dog food that your pet likes and some simple dog treats for training and special rewards.

Cottage cheese, low fat cheese (mozzarella) or yogurt are fine, as they have the acidophilus enzyme to break down the lactose..
It is an ingredient in Innova dog food, and many others.

ask a vet. dogs aren't supposed to eat people food. since when have you seen wild cottage cheese running around the forrest? feed them a good dog food and he'll be fine. not wet food, unless you're brushing his teeth everyday. always dry food and lots of water.
