Sometimes you just have to swallow your differences to make others happy. Especially is that other is your family.
I don't think it's too much to ask to share in your family happiness.

You are right, Christmas, Easter, St Patrick's Day, Mardi Gras, St Valentines Day,Groundhog Day, Thanksgiving, Halloween, Veteran's Day, Father's Day, May Day among others are all based on Pagan traditions. But then if you look at it, Jesus was also based on the story of Mithra and other sun gods so don't put yourself above Pagans. Celebrate time with your family and enjoy yourself.

It isn't a pegan holiday. It is a cristian one. It celebrates the birth of crist. Besides if you truly do your homework. You would find that most modern relegions Are begotten from some form of peganism. And not that I really care but exactly how many pegans have you bothered to get to know. The only ones whom still beleive pegans are evil are uneducated unenlitened narrow minded people.By pegans I me true pegans not this witch want to be crap that hollywood has filled peoples minds with.I am a pegan I was raised by a strick roman catholic and she has no problem with my believes because she took the time to inform herself so she could make an inteligent arguement and try to convince me to come back to her ways. But after doing her homework she learned that there isn't anything wrong with it that everything she had beleived was wrong. And that her objection to peganism was based on ingorance and fear and not fact.I know you are probabely thinking that I am some horrorable devil worshiper I am not truth be told don't beleive in that particular myth I think it is something human kind uses has a scapgoat for the evil that they do. Here's something else to blow holes in you notions about pegans. I have never been in trouble not even so much has a traffic ticket.I don't shed blood of animals it is our first rule harm non. I won't even squash a bug I take it outside and let it go.I have never even hit a person in anger. The only times I have struck someone is when my bro.In law hit my sister when she was pregnant I decked him to get him off of her.And the other was to get my Dad off of my mom when he was drunck and tried to strangle her. Other than those two times I have not even raised my hand to anyone I have to much respect for life. Now put that in your unenlitened pipe and smoke it.

Christmas is on the 25th dec, Summer Solstice is on 21st, they are not the same thing, though it is often said that Christmas was stolen and changed so it was no longer Pagan. I don't suppose we will ever know the truth.
I am a Witch, and I celebrate Christmas as it is part of our family tradition, as it is for most families. It's not for religious reasons.

There are ways of participating without necessarily agreeing with the holiday. I personally wouldn't want to pick a fight on Christmas and end up debating the birth of Christ rather then enjoying the day with friends and family...can you go to these celebrations and simply appreciate their company? If so, do it. Life is too short to waste time fighting.....they will probably never see, agree with or understand your point of view nor will you theirs. Set it aside and enjoy the day.

i'd wager that Christians shouldn't have fun a pagan holiday. far as i be conscious of, what Christians are celebrating at Christmas is the incarnation of their god. the actuality that they use some issues that pagans additionally use of their holiday journeys would not make Christmas pagan. I recommend, human beings use festive decorations, candles, particular foodstuff and drink, events, and so forth for all way of events. This issues do now not dictate the point of the midsection and the concentration of the soul. they are merely issues. i'm a pagan. nonetheless quite some the traditions and so forth you record above do now not happen to affix my faith and practices, a number of them do...yet that would not recommend my faith is the comparable as their faith, merely because of the fact a number of the trimmings and trimmings are the comparable. because of the fact the previous asserting is going "a cat would have her kittens interior the oven, yet that would not cause them to biscuits" Mistletoe, holly, and adorned bushes are part of the cultural history of a lot of human beings, it particularly is why human beings maintain them, as part of their cultural history, to now not honor yet another faith. even nonetheless i'm pagan, I notice an earthly cultural Christmas with my kin

There are many people that don't believe in Christmas as a religious holiday. However, that does not stop them from being with family and friends and appreciating the fact that they have someone that loves and cares about them. Go and be with your family.

You are being legalistic. Is what you described what your family celebrates? Or do they celebrate the fact that family will be together for the day? If they are worshiping the sun god then don't go. But if it is about family being together then go. STOP THE LEGALISM. You hurt the people around you.

Well, I guess for me that would depend on the nature of the celebration. Does it involve going to church or another religious activity, or is it simply a time for the family to gather together? If there is a religious service involved, could you skip it? But if there is a family gathering such as a dinner, I would go so that I could be with my family and spend time with them. Spending time with loved ones, bonding and creating memories is my favorite part of the holidays.

I would say to not do something you are truly uncomfortable with. As a "Pagan" who love to celebrate solstice and the festival of lights, we have accepted the whole birth of Christ thing ( I even display a nativity scene that was a gift) you could deal with a fir tree and pretty lights :)
