There are a lot of stereotyped percetions of religion, muslims, christians, etc.

There has been a lot of foul interactions, but hardly anyone seems actually interested in having a conversation; these are just arguments!

and if we r actually interested in being enlightened by these discussions, neither the source nor the suggestion would matter because we are all searching for th@ blessing we humans can give each other: Enlightenment.

so can this site become a site of Enlightenment?

Dear Pensive07: YES!

I find in our Category, here, that the great wealth of ideas and what has been learned is seldom shared. Rather, we shout small bytes at each other when, at least I, would prefer to get deeper into experiences and the lessons contained therein. Exploration about God is appropriate for the Religion/Spirituality Forum. Are we offering each other something of depth and richness to contemplate? Why will we not read and take in anything - beyond a small byte? And, under those circumstances, what is available to us - from each other?

I have found that divisions of Christians, and Eastern religions, fail to see that tiny, small step that links them all together. That they are all "clutching" their beliefs as if this Forum would threaten to dash them to pieces! Open the mind, expand your intake of ideas and integrate thoughts that can so easily fit in with your own beliefs, yet make them even more valuable to you. There are doors to open upon vistas not seen before. Levels upon levels of spiritual and religious thoughts to contemplate. Like a smorgasbord with soo many delicious foods to choose from. You add to your beliefs value, or congeal in the stale-ness of your mind. Atheists have been brutalizing the theists. I wish to say something about that:

Atheism has been, amongst a host of other "reasons," due to not wanting to believe in anything that can not be proven. Not wanting to be duped! Of course this leads to not acknowledging there is anything but physical matter called brain and the Intellect. Nothing more. Nothing integrated. Just Intellect.

Science has decided God can NOT be disproved or thrown away, after all. Physics has found itself smack up against Him and is desperate to prove Him. (String theories (all 5) or M-Theory). But I tell you, He will never be a mathematical formula unless , and until , soul or spirit-mind within, is willing to bring forth its Knowledge of its Creator (which it shares with His divine Presence) . Only soul/spirit can direct a Scientist to proper understanding of the Order of Creation. Science is, after all, inspiration - inspired to know of it's Self. But, then, at best, you have still a cold calculation of Science - about the Created and it's Creator - with no experience of His divine nature; the ecstasy, the unlimited-ness, the Unopposed force of the Creative Being, of Who we are a part.

The Intellect is of logic and reasoning. It deduces and judges. God is Knowledge and Knowing.

Intellect is a mental exercise. It changes, shifts, and alters. But, Knowledge is unalterable.

The evolution of earth contains the Creator existing along with it. Integration of thought. Nothing is all one way or all the other way!

Humility is often learned later in life. . ..

Best regards, Lana

I certainly find it difficult. This place is full of people who have been institutionalised in their attitudes to abstract thinking for the many different "sides" of "the debate". The only answers to my questions have been propositions I have pulled apart in the past, and the nature of my answers is not understood by those who ask the questions.

One thing that has been enlightening, however, is that it is becoming increasingly obvious that I do not fit in in this particular society; whose very nature is to take people from all walks of life and ask them about their own views. Perhaps abdication from culture may yet prove an appropriate choice...

I think everyone that comes here is trying to learn something, we might be arguing an idea but in the end we contemplate what other people have said and reflect this against our own beliefs. We are not enlightened yet, if we were we would be out helping the world.

It's a shame that so many are embittered in their communication, but this sight can be one road to enlightenment. You just have to be wary about which answers you take seriously. As long as they are not sarcastic or abusive, but thorough and informative enough to warrant 5 stars, especially the ones that give links to informative web sites. The answer is: be selective but study all the serious friendly answers.

For many it is, I know I received an e mail today from a 13 year old girl who was thinking of committing suicide last night and she e mailed me to personally thank me for my advise to call the crisis hotline---and I am thankful that I can help her-- and I felt blessed that she made it through the night and is okay today--- sometimes on this site you talk to people that are so depressed and desperate you wonder if you got through to them and if they are all right---I feel blessed that I can help someone sometimes, to me, that is what this site is all about.

He knocks on the door and if we're not thoroughly became off, he retains knocking till we open it. Then we are able to get to nicely known him. That takes it slow yet much less time if we ask for the classes to return as without postpone as they might. we are able to all finally come to nirvana, enlightenment, the presence of the Holy Spirit. drugs and alcohol do weaken our connection, meditation complements it.

no, too many people are close minded, and are not smart enough to think critically. People for the most part only talk to hear themselves, not to hear what others have to say. Being open minded is a virtue and takes skill. If you are conditioned against it, then it's like being predjudiced, you will never be able to change your ways. It would be nice if we could do what your suggesting, but alas people are so imperfect that we think we are right.

Yes.Before I started using this site I would have described myself as agnostic.
Through asking questions and seeing the answers that christians have given me I have been "enlightened" and am now a confirmed atheist
