Yes, it sounds like her anal sac needs emptied. Your vet or a groomer will do this for you, or I will post a site if you wanna try it your self..Her, the pros charge $6-7.

Hi, I understand that you are looking for some advice or resources to help fully train your dog or fix behavior problems. If a professional dog trainer is not an option at this time, or if you want to trt training your dog on your own (a great way to bond), I'd suggest you https://biturl.im/aU16H
A friend recommened it to me a few years ago, and I was amazed how quickly it worked, which is why I recommend it to others. The dog training academy also has as an excellent home training course.

Im a vet tech, sounds like he might need his anal glands emptied, its very common for anal glands to get full, normally when the dog has a bowel movement it naturally empties the glands but sometimes it doesnt and the vet will need to empty them, its a very simple thing should take to long or cost much. Call your vet for an exam and tell them what hes doing and mention checking his anal glands. No big deal but i would highly recommend getting them checked BECAUSE if that is the problem and they dont get emptied they can actually rupture and then that will require sedation, surgery, and meds. good luck

Usually, when dogs do that, it's because they can.
Now, as far as impaction, when my dogs have buttular issues, they usually scoot their butts on the ground (generally on my mother's carpet, which she despises.) It's called "going flop-bott" in James Herriot (All Creatures Great and Small TV show and books) and Mrs. Pumphrey's dog Tricki Woo did it and it freaked her out.
I don't think anal glands have anything to do with water or parasites or even diet. Some dogs just have issues with them getting impacted. Getting them reamed out is simple (nasty, but simple)--my vet's office charges 8 bucks for a vet tech to pop his/her gloved finger in my dog's round brown eye and pop the glands (I won't do it, I won't do it...ugh. I love my dog, but I'm not sticking my finger up her butt and probing around.)
If it's a constant problem, get it checked out. Most dogs enjoy a good lickin' down there, but not all the time.

Could be anal glands as you mentioned, vet can easily show you how to fix this.
Could be worms- give your dog a wormer
Could be feces stuck in hair- keep your dogs "business" area fur trimmed short
Give your dog something better to focus on. like a chew toy or side of beef!

dogs will lick their rears to help empty the anal glands. just maybe general cleaning. dogs don't take showers like we do and they do like to have their bums clean. unless she is doing this on a non stop basis, don't worry. if she is then take her to the vet. Unfortunately we all do not have crystal balls and can't see your dog!!! LOL don't worry too much she's fine. good luck

She may have impacted anal glands and may need them expressed by her vet. I would schedule an appt. to have your vet take a look at her. Good Luck.

here are what your dog could be trying to tell you:
1"My butt is itchy"
2"My butt is dirty"
3"I have an infection, take me to the vet"
4(if it is a toy dog) "My anal sacs are full!"
5"i have worms, take me to the vet"
6"My butt smells, i like it"
7"Something is stuck in my butt"

IF it is constant, then something is irritating her there. It could be any number of things so you should have her seen by the vet and diagnosed properly to deal with it properly.
