My cousin has a lot of acne, and needs good advice to help it go away. I am not so sure myself, though. I don't have acne and don't know myself how to prevent it or cure it.

Most often the cause is related to hormonal changes in the body at puberty and complicated by diet and stress. A healthy diet low in fatty foods and high in fruits and vegetables is the best start, then try regular stress reducing techniques, yoga, meditation, outdoor excercise are among the best.
Good skin cleansing and spot treatment with a product containing tea tree oil are highly advised. Drink plenty of filtered water and lay off the sodas (even suger free ones which can cause allergic reactions).
This is good for everyone, healthy person, best chance at healthy skin. Oh, and if your cousin smokes, be aware that that is brutal on skin and wrecks the antioxidents that can help.

first of all does your cousin live in India or out of India?
he/she needs to keep their skin clean with using very mild soap or non-soap cleanser. I would advise them to see dermatologist instead of spending money on over the counter stuff. i work in this field..........you need vitamin A base cream at night to keep your acne under control. if you use any moisturiser, it has to be non comedogenic..........if girl.........using makeup look for same non comedogenic stuff. i would consult Dr. because sometimes you also need antibiotics at the beginning to keep everything under control.
