I don't understand why people no longer seem to take pride in their appearance. If they are imitating inmates, I'd have to wonder what's wrong with our society that our young people have such messed up role models.

This is a question we may never know the true answer to.My son dresses like that.He is 16.He always says it`s the fashion.Im just happy my other 2 teens sees it as untasteful and a lack of respect for theirselves and other. My son will wear his pants down below his buttocks and belt them there showing everyone his boxers. But he will not walk around the house in his boxers because he says he`s not gonna show his boxers off to everyone.I think these young men and boys lack a brain cell and the brain cell was replaced with the word fashion.

It is just kids being dumb. People have been saying that about how young people dress since people have been dressing. But you are almost right. It is not because they inmates have no belts. It is a way of showing off to the bigger bad inmates that you are willing to have sex with them with out putting up a fight. So the young people doing it are following the antics of inmates who are willing to have anal sex with other inmates so they don't get beaten up. Something they should be proud of.

I think they do it as a kind of sexual gesture, or simply to get a rise out of others. The thought of flashing one's undergarments to the public's eye gives them a thrill, and they get an even bigger thrill once they actually do it. Attracting the opposite sex in the process is but an added bonus. (That doesn't make it appropriate, though. I'm not condoning underwear flashing by any means, and I find it rather revolting that some people would do this.)

They are sometimes, and yes they do take the belt and shoe laces away, at least here, but they make you wear the proper fit pants and shirt.

looks like debbie has the answer, i was wondering myself since it is such an ugly style, plummerscrack is bad enough but this style of wearing the pants down to the knees is downright ugly, plus it makes you wonder what are they hiding in their pants if they do not want to pull them up.

i dont understand it either... to me it seems that the guys that do this just want to be cool, and think that they look awesome with their boxers showing. what they dont reailize is that they do look awesome.... awesomely stupid!!
im in high school and, personally, when i see the guys with baggy pants, i just want to go up to them and do one (or both) of two things:
1) tell them "you know, i dont think that the whole entire world really cares what is on your boxers"
or
2) pull their pants up for them (hard) so that it will make a point...
