I am 21 years old and am a bit overweight. I weigh 170 and need to go down to 135 (at least). I have time to do this, but not enough funds to higher a nutritionist or trainer, or follow a plan that I have to pay for. I am looking for results and efficiency. I purchased a treadmill and have several workout videos that I can do at home. I need to know a diet plan that is realistic, won't make me feel weak, and is fulfilling. Also I need to eat 3 times a day, I don't want a liquid diet either. Please advice on realistic diet plans that have ACTUALLY worked for you...and a workout routine. Tell me your story, and paint a picture for me. Thanks so much!!!

35 Pounds in 26 weeks that is 1.5 pounds a week. That should not be a problem if you are committed.

Just cut fast food, sugar and white stuff (tatoe, rice, white pasta). Eat 3-5 times a day resonnable portions. Don't go pouring tons of oil on food either. Be sensible.

Are you in a warm state coz you can go walk around the block (or walk to dog) for 30 mins a day with ankle weights (it is what I do) No one notices them under jeans so you don't look goofy, and they are cheap.

There are a lot of good website that can help you without you having to pay for them for example
http://www.3fatchicks.com/ - they review diets and talk about the latest fads and give you tools and you can talk to other people that are doing diets and experiencing them.

Or go to a library to rent out books about dieting and exercising so you don' t have to pay for them and you can increase your knowledge.
I lost 25 pds in 6 months, and now am having problems loosing the last 10 so I have rented a bunch of different books and am trying different approaches.

Beware though some diets are expensive to do for example they tell you to buy only organic food and rare food. Nix those diets and go for the ones that are easy. Because if you have to spend 2 hours to figure out what to eat every day you are going to give up.

Also don't do something that is extremely different from how you eat now, or how your family eats. You need something that is relatelively easy for you as you don't want to give up in 2 months.
I did a diet that cut many carbs (who can live with no bread???) I lost 5 pounds in 1 week gain 7 the next. Pick something you know you can do and then stick with.

Weight yourself once every week regurlarly ( example: friday morning at 9 am) write your progress down. Also, keep a food diary, so you know exactly what you have eaten and look back on it if something does not work. Don't beat yourself up if you cheat once in a blue moon it is not the end of the world just don't do it every day....

Good luck!

Hi Stephanie-----I want to congratulate you on your commitment to improve your life!-----Your goal is realistic and obtainable I am an R.N. and have associates who have found a way to lose weight very effectively without any fads-----the pills and patches and anything else out there does accomplish getting your money and nothing more.----There is an eating plan that was conceived for the diabetic yet ----- in it's simplicity will benefit all of us who wish to get or stay at the weight our bodies likes best. This plan essentially counts carbohydrates-----what you do is READ LABELS----the carb count will be listed in g/serving.........now--------while reading this label read also the fiber content-------------lets say a serving contains 14g of carbs-----and 4g fiber------you may always subtract the fiber content from the carbs----therefore in this example your carbs would be 10g/serving-----------try to limit daily carb content to 50g-------many people say 40g but i feel this is a bit strict.do use the treadmill as exercise is essential to tone up and not be flabby as your pounds start to shed-----and they WILL if you go this routs------------Good Luck to you----and if you ever stumble get right back up and try again and you will succeed.

i know this will take a while, but if you search for meal plans for 2000 calories, you will be able to find many three day meal plans. for example, http://www.compass180.com/meals/m2000.html i did this and found many days instead of a week, i found about three weeks worth of food that i liked and that i could stand! do this and your treadmill. i know you hear this all the time, but a rule of thumb is an average of 1-2 lbs a week is the best way to loose the weight... GOOD luck to you and i hope this helpes!!! i got two weeks for you!!

In the mood for any hot meal? Make a huge pot of veggie bean soup, divide into two-cup containers, and store within the freezer. Before bed, place a container inside the fridge, then grab it before heading out the door every day.
