I seen people lose around 100-150 lbs on TV, and i always see how they are not satisfied with the weight loss because of the excess skin that supported the extra fat. Do you think that same situation would apply to someone who is gonna try and lose 50-70 lbs?

I think a lot of that depends on the speed in which they lose the weight. About 10 years ago I lost 65 pounds. I didn't have excess skin. It took close to a year to lose that, and I exercised every day. I've seen those people on tv too... I remember on Extreme Makeover that was a problem. Those people lose large amounts of weight in a short period of time. Sure they have a personal trainer who works them 4 hours a day, and that definitely contributes to the speedy weight loss - but it doesn't give the body time to adjust to it. My doctor told me that ideal weight loss (to get it off and to not gain it back quickly again) is no more than 2 pounds a week.

I wouldnt think so. Only if you were to weigh something in the rediculous range of 400+... ya know like those ppl on tv. I say that because I'm 146lbs and im ~5'10". I have a bit of loose skin. Its almost as if the body gives you room for play. Sorta like storage space. If it needs more room to put the incoming fat it grows as the tension builds (like when doctors put balloons under the skin in some cases so that it grows out). By looking at how loose my skin is id say i coudl probably put on about 20-30 lbs before my skin would have to grow much. I'm just observing tho. Im sure that the amount of time that you maintain that weight has something to do with it also. Good luck tho.

I believe if the weight is lost at a slow steady pace, with proper excercise, there shouldn't be excess skin. Remember, most of the peopleon T.V. loss the weight at a unhealthy rate.

If you lose it when you are younger - it helps- you have more elasticity= and springs better= and having to lose less is better- some do not have an excess skin problem and others don't = and losing at a not speedy rate is helpful=-D
