Of course it depends on the cause of the sore throat. This is my standby. Steep some sage and lemon balm in hot apple cider vinager for 10 min. Use this as the base for a gargle. you will need to dilute it with warm water to the point you can tolerate. Most people gag if trying to use full strength. You may have to start with as little as 1 part vinegar to 4 parts water but try to go half and half if you can. The stronger, the better. Lemon balm tea bags can be found in health food stores or sections of some grocery stores or pharmacies. The rest can be foun in almost any grocery.

The best remedy I know and has always worked for me is to rub garlic juice(crushed garlic also works) on the outside of your throat before bedtime.The only downside is of course the taste and smell of garlic
