What is a soul? Every religion believes there is life after death, how exactly do we survive? As I have always seen it explained, our soul lives on. If this is true, the soul must be a tangible thing right? Is it matter? Energy? If so, where is it? How does it store our personality, memories and experiences?

The soul is the true 'us' with ego, personality, intellect and body removed. It is energy and it does not store our personality memories and experiences.

The soul is not something that survives death, Ezekiel 18:4 says the soul that is sinning, it itself will die. Genesis 2:7 says that man is a living soul. The complete man is a soul not something inside him, and it dies. The Scriptures tell us to be like the Beroeans for they were noble-minded for they received the word with great eagerness of mind, carefully examining the Scriptures daily as to whether these things were so. Acts 17:11

According to Genesis, God formed man out of the dust of the ground and breathed into him the breath of life and man became a living soul. A soul is simply body and breath. It is what you are not something you have. At death, the breath of life goes back to the ground and the body returns to the dust to await the resurrection. Dust you are and dust you shall become
