I agree with the principle but it is going to be hard to legislate for this. How do you define a throw-away item?

Ok, single use cameras are an obvious target. But airbags in cars are single use. So also are bombs and fire extinguishers (generally). I'm sure there are lots of things which are designed to be thrown away after use wbhich would not warrant this tax.

How to draw the line - that is the problem.

This government is obsessed with recycling yet they are going to miss the targets on emissions agreed under the Kyoto agreement. Need to get their priorities straight.
