You can, but be careful you don't take more dignity away from yourself in the process. To forgive someone, you need only understand how desperate they need to be to try to take your dignity away. When you see that , you will understand them, and in the process you will have given your own dignity a big boost for being so understanding and compassionate. Compassion is the highest expression of EM in the human mind.

You are called to forgive everyone of everything.

They also are called to make ammends but even if they do not you need to forgive them.

What happend if you do not forgive is the wound they inflicted will fester and get infected and cause you much more hurt. IF you forgive the wound begins to heal. Sometimes if the wound is big enough it will take quite a while to forget but it will come.

BTW too much dignity is also know as pride and or arogance. They may have done you a favor in the long run.

I wish you would explain a little how this was done. Forgiveness is always possible. You should ask yourself why you think this person had so much control over you that they could even accomplish taking away all of your dignity. It seems impossible to do without your consent.

It is very hard to forgive someone that makes you feel so low. And as humans we tend to hurt the ones that we love and who love us the most. This is a tactic of Satan to keep the family separated. but you can't do this by yourself, but you can do it with the help of Christ. read Eccl. 10:6 , 2 Peter 2:10. then read about forgiveness in Ps.130:4, Mt 5:33.

You cannot be deprived of your dignity.

If someone has harmed you, in fact, that is the perfect opportunity to demonstrate your dignity and magnanimity.

Be there better person and you retain or increase your dignity - if you are not the better person, you have lost your dignity because you have discarded it yourself, it was not taken form you.

It's hard...but try to think in this way...everyone is responsible for it's own actions. And every action has it's own reaction. So that person that took your dignity will suffer the reaction of the actions that person did to you. Those reactions comes from the higher power form god. So don't worry that person will suffer anyway.
My point is try to forgive him and yourself. You will feel much better.

good luck, and cheer up...live your life.

It takes a long time, but I have done that. It took me years to forgive all those who tormented me in middle school, but now I'm over it. And, I have my dignity back. After all, only you can define yourself. No one else can do that.
