If you susspected your 16 year old gandson was abused by your husband would you read your grandson's journal?

I only ask because it was left in the kitchen under a shelf. I had talked to my husband after he hit my grandson the first time but I think the abuse is asc'lating again. My son is in jail for abuse and I want to know if I need to turn my husband in aswell.

Your grandson has been complaining on Yahoo Answers about the abuse of his grandfather. In one question he said uncle but meant grandfather...he doesn't like the touchy touch stuff and is growing fearful. Please help him...talk to him and tell him how much you love him and let him know he is more important to you than anything. Get the facts from him and then do something about your husband.

well, I would say the fact that he has already hit him is a pretty good sign of abuse, and while I do not advocate "snooping" i would read the journal and if you find any information, copy it...Perhaps he left it where he did so that you would find it....

I work for social services. You can call child protective services in your area and make an anonymous report.

Based on what you said, the husband would be kicked to the curb, and based on the fact that your son is abusive, I am wondering if the apple did not fall far from the tree.

THIS is a GOOD reason to read it!! You might also have to show the police, try to copy it off for yourself if there is anything you feel should be for future help. Abuse can run in the family and it can be very well hidden from others. Get help!

eh if he is 16 he might get angry if he finds out you read his journal.. maybe try asking him first, and make sure he knows he can trust you.. if that doesn't work then read his journal.. oh and you should prolly tell your husband (if i am right) or ask him.. or something becasue that a serious issue that you have got there.. and do something about it.. it ends up pretty bad for the person being abused

Evidently you should read it, it's alright to go against someone's privacy if you have a reason to believe that he's getting hurt. But don't read all of it, read the entries of when he started to live with you. And if you find the evidence that he is then yes, you should turn your husband in.

I think journal is private. Everybody is entitled to their privacy. 16 year old is old enough to know the difference between abuse and discipline. Engage in more communication, encourage him to discuss his feelings with you.

while i think it's wrong to pry into anyone's private thoughts,if you think that your grandson is being hurt in any way,i think you would be justified in reading it.kids are very protective about things like that,so the fact that he left it lying around could be a cry for help.

*** i'm torn on this one. i don't think people have the right to go thru someone else's stuff...and there's nothing saying that that's even what your grandson's writing about in there. u may find something you're not expecting in there...or u may find nothing at all. can't u talk to your grandson?
