they would kick him out I think

85 wives ok, one boyfriend, nope

I think I read that Brigham Young married a woman , then a week later married her sister, then a week later her mom and her aunt too. And he slept with em all too I think.

Maybe things have changed since then. I guess it just appeals to my imagination.

The last thing I heard about it was that it is a sin, part of Satan's ways of trying to slow down spiritual growth and also to slow down the formation of families with the potential to have children. If someone struggles with same-sex attraction, the leaders are supposed to counsel with that person to work hard to understand where that attraction is coming from, and to re-direct the energy in a more positive direction. They do NOT advise getting married until that weakness is overcome. Sometimes you have to literally get out of the way of temptation, like stay away from friends and acquaintances who have those weaknesses as well, or move to another city or another state. We believe that marriage was instituted of God, and that it is meant for ONE man and ONE woman. In my opinion, homosexuality is caused mostly by the spirit of confusion. I don't know if your brother-in-law understands the doctrine of the premortal life very well - that we were all spirit children of God, and that our gender was already determined before birth, or if he is an actual baptized Church member or not. If he is just attending the Church as an investigator, at some point in time he will have to commit to living the law of chastity - which is that one cannot have physical relations with anyone except a spouse. Again, according to the recent Declaration on the Family, the foundation of marriage is a commitment between ONE man and ONE woman, and not any other combination.

we don't choose individuals for the strategies that they make. that's your precise and your decision. and that's probably why this missionary did no longer make a brilliant deal out of it. we don't have faith in premarital intercourse or eating alcohol and a brilliant sort of different issues and we don't walk up and initiate telling human beings the thank you to stay their lives. even nonetheless, in case you have an activity in studying with reference to the gospel, you will pay attention approximately our standards. even with the undeniable fact that, that being suggested, we do have faith that performing on gay desires is a sin. no count number if or no longer that's a decision or a organic and organic element does not incredibly count type. Sexual family members might desire to be between a married guy and lady. The LDS (Mormon) church encourages those with gay dispositions to proceed to be energetic in church and lead a celibate existence. (And confident, that's the expert stance of the church.)

IF he went to the bishop and told him he was gay the bishop would probably talk to him about trying to not have those tendancies. IF he was willing to repent his membership most likely would not be jeopardized...IF he wanted to choose to keep living that lifestyle he would probably be excommunicated.
Homosexuality is a sin in God's eyes...for the first person who said it "depends on the region", that is not correct. The church is the same in California as it is in Austrailia or England or Africa.
It's not just an "opinion" either, it is doctrine.

The LDS opinion is that same-sex attractions are a "burden" that one must struggle with and never act upon. Mormons who come out as openly gay, and who express no shame or repentance for their feelings, are typically excommunicated. This means that they will not only be separated from their loved ones in the weird afterlife Mormons believe in, but will also likely be estranged from their families in this world as well.

In order to achieve the "best" kind of afterlife, Mormons believe that a man must marry a woman and have children (preferably several). In reality, however, this sets up gay and lesbian Mormons to marry someone they can never fully love. I pity them, and I pity their partners.

Fortunately, there are supportive organizations for Mormons who are dealing with sexual identity issues. Here is their website: http://www.affirmation.org/

Lol. One of the odd things is that people go to churches that are opposed to homosexuality (like the Mormons) but they are gay themselves. This whole anti-gay thing is just ridiculous.

Depends on the region. In Utah I'm sure they're very conservative about it, although in other places they may be a bit more lenient of it.

Good luck, and God Bless.

I do know that they condemn all sex outside of marriage, so presumably gay sex (which legally can only occur outside of marriage - at least as of now), would also be wrongful.

So, in other words, they encourage people to live a lie? Yes I know, so do several other churches.
