Are high protein/no carb diets the best way to lose weight?? How much weight do you think is possible to lose if you go on this kind of diet for like a month and exercise a minimum of 3 hours a day? I am getting ready to undertake this, and would like to know if this is a good strategy for maximum weight loss in a short amount of time. Thanks!!!

I will tell you that this type of diet is done correctly you will lose inches VERY quickly. If your looking to take weight off quickly and keep it off this is not the diet for you. We need carbs in our bodies to help keep us healthy and while this diet does work it is very unhealthy to keep it up for long periods of time. I did this diet once and lost a total of 40 pounds and about 8 inches around my waist in about 3 months. It is VERY hard to give up so many carbs for that long. The reason I went off that type of diet is because I became pregnant and have since researched it better. it is also expensive to eat that way! But like I said it does wonders for quick weight loss. Good luck and be careful!

No it is not healthy to loss weight that fast. Plus you will not keep it off it will come right back on as soon as you get off it.

It is best to loss weight slowly eating a balanced diet and exercising.

Also if not used to exercising you need to start slowly then work up. Starting at 3 hours a day after being a couch potato can cause more damage than good.

You need to alternate your training as well. Do cardo training like walking, running, biking every other day. Then the next day do strength training exercises.

The key is do not starve yourself and do not over do it when exercising.

Studies have shown that replacing just a small amount of carbohytrate and fat in your diet with lean protein will help you to lose weight but don't overdo it like you are suggesting. It's best to have a target to lose no more than 1-2 pounds a week and to do it with a combination of nutrition and exercise.
