My brother has been getting hit awhile by my grandfather, who lives with my grandbrother now, and my grandmother. I live along with my mother so Im not there all the time. I think my brother's been getting hit by my grandfather and he told me once "I hate getting hit by gramps, he's so grumpy". I didn't know what that meant but now I think hes getting abused, should I tell my grandmother with the proof or try and talk to him?

Get the details from your brother first then speak with your Grandmother, or better yet both you and your brother might sit down with your grandmother on this. It has to be determined what level of abusing we are talking about ... is grandpa doing a slap on the arm thing or a downright smack upside the head? Grandma will probably have a much better understanding of the situation if she is told everything without trying to guess.

She probably knows grandpa's personality very well and I would like to hope that if she is aware grandpa has a mean streak, that she'd not let her grandchild be alone with him...but then again, some people can hide their darkside pretty good.

Sit with grandma, up front and straight and get this worked out so all of you know where this has to lead. If grandpa is abusing, grandpa needs to be dealt with...abusive situations escalate very easily and it takes only that one single situation where it blows out of control, that someone can get seriously hurt or worse.

You've made a good start, hang tight and follow it through...good luck

i'd talk first to your brother. you say he only told you once about getting hit by gramps and that he's so grumpy - you have to find out what he meant? what led up to the circumstances. has this happened before and what were the reasons. after that you can make a clearer determination. i'd tell your brother what you are feeling and what you plan to do - and, then, let your grandmother and mother know the situation.

first i would ask your brother what he meant by what he said.if he is being slapped around for no apparent reason. then yes you need to tell someone. I'm not sure telling gram is the right person, she lives in the same home so she may already know that this is going on. i think you would be better off talking to your mom.

Talk to your brother and find out the whole problem first. Then decide what to do.
