Never tip mechanics. They are probably ripping you off in one way or another. There are so many scandals involving Jiffy Lube and EZ lube and all the other Lubes out there. The huge corps. are definitely ripping you off somewhere. So don't tip. Just have your care 'serviced' and leave.

Oh hell no!
Enough with the tipping nonsense!
A tip should be for service above and beyond the job description.
Every job description, whether written or not, includes the idea of providing the best customer service possible.
Stop rewarding people for doing nothing more than their job. That's what the paycheck is for.

I am tired of everyone looking for a tip. I'm sick of the tip cup at the deli when they give me a cup of coffee I just paid for. Don't they get a paycheck just like me. I don't go looking for a tip.

Heck no. Their prices are so marked up for the services they perform, their tip is in the inflated cost of services. It is not necessary to tip a mechanic, they get paid for what's called LABOR.

I usually give them a tip of $2 a piece. Sometimes they do not take it, but I still offer it to them for the good work they do for me.

no you tiped them enough by paying for an oil filter that they never changed for you. Next time you take the car there for an oil change mark the oil filter before going and look at it when you start to leave. i bet you still have it on your car
