What would happen to a mentally retarded person or a crazy person on a drug like say ...ummmm cocane or crack or Ecstacy or something, how world they react, would it have the same effect on them as it would a normal person or would it have any mental effect at all......pleas ehelp!

You know. I have a hell of alot of experience with this issue from working years in the in patient community mental health field.
You are actually asking the wrong question. The question you SHOULD be asking is this. There are a hell of alot of mentally retarded and mentally ill people who are drug users (number one drug of choice is pot, btw). What percentage of them were that way BEFORE they started using drugs?
The answer is few to none, at least in the community mental health setting (the setting where people who have no money go for treatment, either voluntarily or because they court/cops force them to go).
I mean, I would think that drugs would make these conditions worse. But you know, I really don't know. And the reason I don't know is, although I've treated a great many patients who are "retarded" and have various mental illnesses and also do drugs, I have NEVER met one who was retarded/mentally ill BEFORE they started using drugs!
More interesting is that, if you can get the person to stop using (VERY difficult to do) their symptoms mostly disappear with mental illness. Not the retardation though. As Ron White says, You can't fix stupid. It seems however that you can create stupid where it wasn't present before, using drugs.

panacea obviuosly has no idea what he is saying. he is unqualified to answer this question if he thinks pot can make people mentally ill.
ok... you simply said "crazy/mentally ill" which encompases a million different brain states... and also two drugs as examples that are almost opposites (effectually)..... so there is no way your going to get that specific of an answer. they would get the same effect we would. it is in how they would cope with it that the differences would come in. a manic/schizophrenic person on stimulants such as coke/crack would get alot worse.... especially a schizophrenic person, since the medicines they are treated with for it do the exact opposite thing as stimulants.. in regards to dopamine. ecstacy is tricky... it would make a person with down syndrome love you.. as it does to everyone. and a pshycotic person would prolly get a little more manic... maybe? but be alot nicer. thats as good as an answer u can get without a more specific question.

There's a new assessment tool called the OCAL, Observation checklist for adult Language. If the person were on hallucinagetics and communicated, it might be a plus. The checklist could determine that.
