Its not easy. I used to drink all day everyday even at work. I don;t drink anymore. I haven;t had a drink in 4 yrs. I still feel out of place at times. I solve that by hanging out with other sober people. I don't go to places where people drink and I just except the fact that Im not like people who don't have a drinking problem. If I was you I would try going to some AA meetings. Everyone there feels the same way you do. You will be surprised but there is ALOT of people like you and me out there. Once you find them you will learn how to feel comfortable without being drunk. But it won't happen right away. It takes patience and hope but eventually you will start to feel more comfortable without being drunk. When your sober you won't stand out so much to regular people. If anything you will realize that being drunk should be the uncomfortable feeling. When your drunk you really are out of place from the real world.

Alcohol does not "change" people's behaviour, it just removes any reservations about we think/feel or would act if we didn't care what anyone else thinks. My guess is you are trying to be someone you are not, that is the only reason people would like you better than when you are sober. Or maybe when you are drunk, what other people think of or say to you doesn't bother you? It's called being "real" or being "yourself" and not worrying about it. But you might better find peace and enjoy life sober, and with people who like you sober. Safe drinking now and then is alright as long as no one gets hurt, but you don't have to be drunk to be liked.

It's just like anything else, you must try it, I know it's been three years and counting for me and it is an everyday struggle, that I know I have to work for, If you really want to live a life of sorority it's just like having a job, it's something that you have to work at all the time and the better you feel the stronger you will get. I have learned that you really do not have to use an substance in order to be high, when you can get high off of life, have you ever just stopped and thought about life it self? I mean have you just stopped and watched a child at play with out a care in the world? or smelled the flowers, or just stopped to think of why are we really here? I feel like I missed out on a lot of things in life while I was under the influence and now that my eyes are opened I get high on life, and it is a much better feeling and it really don't cost a cent................I will pray for you.....................Just take it one day at a time...................................

I basically just enjoy the company and people around me. Why would I want to be intoxicated the whole time, when I could be having real fun and remembering the fun I had.
