Yes, the mom and dad were married and the mom had twins, when they divorced the mom took one of the twins and the dad took the other to raise. Remember at the end of the story, the parents wound up marrying again.

Yeah, in the beginning of the movie; they showed the wedding and stuff. Did you even get the movie? That's what is was all about; the parents were married, they had twins, they divorced, they moved far apart, the twins later on meet each other, and they try to, eventually, get there parents back together.
