I never experienced anything quite like that when I went to Mexico, but I'm sure it's because I was with a Mexican citizen (my ex-husband--we were there to get his US citizenship). But we were badly over charged for goods and services many places we went because I was a white American. He was majorly pissed, but even he knew there was nothing we could do about it. I would not go back there because I know I would face a lot of prejudice, at this time especially. The violence against tourists from the US could eventually keep all of us away. But if that's what they want then I will respect it. We need to send their citizens back home to them as well. Respectfully deport them and enforce our immigration laws. We don't want to repay violence with violence unless we have no choice.

There is crime toward all tourists all over the world. Do you think Times Square doesn't have it's fair share of criminals waiting for a foreigner? I've been to many countries and as long as you aren't flashing wads of money, wearing obnoxious jewelry and stick with a group I've never had any issues, including a month in Mexico. Just be smart and don't make yourself a target.

Honestly there are crimes committed against white American tourists in a lot of countries. And Mexico is still one of the most popular tourist places for both Americans and Europeans to visit. They love those Mexican margaritas!!!

Any Americans have to watch their *** anywhere. Poor people
the world over view us as the rich and somehow they should
have some of it. I know for a fact that the police is corrupt and
will jail young people without even charging them and get them
to write home for money to get out.

Well, the State Department does issue advisories warning Americans about travel in Mexico. You may want to check them for a more practical account.

there is a lot of crime in Mexico, but no racial violence usually, you should not be targeted for being white
mexico city, and the surronding 6-7 miles are the most dangerous places in the city

That website is racist, so you can't take it too seriously.
Considering HOW MANY americans cross into Mexico every year (millions), the rate is rather low.
Don't go into shady areas, and don't get in the drug trade, and you'll be fine.
