The most beneficial exercises for your belly are those that involve twisting your waist. SALSA Dancing, BELLY DANCE, and CAPOEIRA all use a lot of waist movement, and will tighten your waist muscles up (nipping your waist into an 'hourglass') as well as targeting fat loss into your waist area. (Capoeira is a bit hardcore; you should get into it gradually, and use the others as preparatory work.)
You can also buy a rotating platform to work with at home.
Many people who ought to be well enough trained to know better, will tell you that because muscles use fat from the whole bloodstream, they can't affect the local stores of bodyfat. In fact, this is rubbish. Exercise diverts more blood into the skin covering the muscles you are working, so that more of the fat you store there is available to be used as fuel. Concentrating habitually on one bodypart more than another, will lead to the fat being thinner there.
'Apple' and 'Pear' shaped people are like that because the 'apples' (predominantly men) use their hip joint more when walking, and their waist less, so they store more fat around their waist, while the 'pears' (mainly women) use their waist to 'wiggle' when they walk, so they store more over the hips.
It is more usual to hold the arms in front of the body, during everyday activities, than to operate them behind your back; the Bicep is more active than the Tricep, which is why there is more fat stored over the Tricep (bicep and tricep are two of the standard measuring sites for an accurate bodyfat measurement).
Situps focus too much on a single muscle layer (rectus abdominis), which will tire easily and does nothing to change your shape.
Some instructors will also tell you that the upper and lower abdominal muscles cannot be worked separately; this is also a myth. Exercises that work the LOWER abs will have more effect on a 'belly', but you should go for a balanced improvement of all the muscles around your WAIST (it's really one big joint that moves in every direction) if you want to avoid straining your back.

Lose 10 pounds in 2 weeks??
There are some websites on the Internet, which promise you that you are going to lose 10 pounds in every 2 weeks. If you are good in math you will find that keeping these stats in mind, 260 pounds in a year. Losing 260 pounds is the figure, which is unbelievable and unexpected.
This kind of claims are planned just to cause clients to make impulsive decisions. When you gain weight, did you gained around 50 minds in two months? Certainly not. We gain weight in weight in small parts, which add up to our weight. This keeps on increasing with time.
I think you get what I mean to say. We normally gain weight in grams like 65 gram per week. With this stat you are going to gain around 7 pounds at the end of year.
This weight is so slow that you cannot measure it weekly. But in fur years you are going to gain around 28 pounds.
So how can you expect this weight to go in few days? You are going to lose the way you have gained it. So it will take time to lose weight. So you have to start losing weight systematically. You can lose weight by developing the good eating habits in you and nutritious foods.

Hi,
I've tried all different diets, and the weight loss is only temporary. I finally tried diet pills on the market are made from Hoodia. I saw this stuff on ABC News. It's all natural and safe, and it works! My wife took it for a month and dropped 20 pounds. I took it for a month and lost about 13 (but I didn't exercise).
I bought the natural hoodia from this website: http://www.alllsite.info/free-diet-pills.php . I checked the web site address so I can post it here and I saw they're running a promotion now to get a free 2 week sample for only $4.97! I'm going to order this supply for my wife and give it to her for Christmas =)

no offence but doing 100 sit ups per day was stupid
what you oughta do is stick with your sit ups and only do as many as you can, say if you could only do 5 sit ups a day...dont push yourself, only do that 5 sit ups
then do one more per day, so the next day you would do 6 sit ups and stick with 6 sit ups per day for the next week...
also instead of munching on junk like crisps and chocolate when you feel peckish, eat an apple or a peice of fruit

Download your favourite tracks to exercise to. If you’ve committed to a half hour session per day then a 30-minute soundtrack of the most extremely upbeat, motivating tunes will preserve you pumped up!

If you have pain in your back from doing sit-ups. YOu must being doing them wrong. Secondly, if you want to lose your belly put down the twinky's and cheeseburger. Sit-ups will build your ab muscle but there will still be fat overtop of them.

Intimate, loving, ahem…horizontal physical exercise with your (legal) partner has been proven among the most effective ways to change those calories. So get going without running shoes!
