In 1972 I hitchhiked from Woodstock, Ontario to Vancouver in less than 72 hours. I carried a gas can and flashlight and went day and night. No waiting between rides.

Grey hound takes about 3 1/2 days they stop for meals and breaks, but go full out all the way there, I have made that trip 2 there and back, and my last trip to Winnipeg was 16 hours, cost go by bus is around $200 one way, so figure $400 return, Via Rail is almost $800 and a charter with Air Transat or an ohter carrier is around $500, WestJet will get you there for around $600.

If you going just for a trip or to look for work, wait until spring, if you breakdown going through Manitoba or Saskatchwen it can be a long and expensive trip.

But driving and stopping for food, gas and a nights sleep here and there, probably around 4-5 days.

You can cut down the time considerably by travelling through the
US.

If you're going to Vancouver, Mapquest suggests the following:

Total Est. Time: 37 hours, 49 minutes Total Est. Distance: 2571.65 miles

You're on I-90 West for 2083.2 miles. LOL!
