Hello, Tidra. I'm a Christian, and I have no problem with you.
Perhaps it's because you seem to be more open-minded than other atheists on this site.
Anyway, the reason some Christians (and other religious people) view atheists as horrible people is for two reasons:
1) Because some Christians really are as simple-minded as is suggested. I'm not saying this to be mean. I have a lot of love and admiration for all Christians, but some of them are extremely judgemental.
and/or
2) Because some atheists really ARE horrible people. Again, not saying this to be mean. It's just the truth.
I look at people like you, and the atheists from here that I've had correspondence with, and I wonder how in the world you guys can be reconciled with those among you who seek only to insult those like myself who have chosen to follow God.
I still love every one of you, though.

Because religion is a fanatical thing, thats why there are so many wars going on, or went on in the past.

And someone who is an athiest could opt out of the vicious circle.

Its also hard for people to understand, after seeing the sun rise, the waves roll onto the beach and other wonderfull things on this world and above happening. All of which would´nt happen if the earth was a % of a degree away from or near the sun, if the moon wasn´t the correct size.

Life wouldn´t exist if many aspects of our world weren´t perfectly harmonised, like some all supplying mansion in the desert, the question "who built this mansion" in the barron desert is answered by some people to be "GOD" and others that it happened by accident.

The chances of 1 cell happening by accident is the same as blowing a library up and all the pages and books falling onto the floor in exactly the same order. What are the chances of our world with its diversity of life comming about by such an accident, or Big bang?.......NONE!

So where did everything come from?

Why do you even get into those conversations with them? you will no longer attain a decision.. they would not in any respect understand what you're attempting to tell them .. this is a few thing interior the mentality !! besides, am no longer religious in any respect...I nonetheless have fun all the trip journeys ..even regardless of the undeniable fact that i think of trip journeys are materialistic particularly than religious in recent times. i've got faith in God, this is adequate .. Too religious people and that i do only no longer mixture.. they do no longer seem to admire my attitude... so i do no longer waste my time... And what makes me mad is as quickly as I see all those believers from all religions attacking one yet another as though their faith turn into the superb. all the three religions are Abrahamic regardless of each little thing....

Either because the Bible is a strong source of morality, and for many people it is _their_ source of morality so it would logically seem that if you have no Bible or God, you have no morals.

Or because people like Richard Dawkins make it tough for the rest of us. Atheists can be pretty nasty to theists, calling them stupid, sheep, et cetera.

Ideally everyone would leave each other alone about it. Many people are just hostile, regardless of their beliefs and they give everyone a bad name.

Often people view things that are just honest questions as attacks. I asked a friend of mine what made him believe in God, as a completely nice question. I'm an agnostic and I'm happy that he has something strong to believe in. He gave me this huge load of crap about how I'm going to go to hell for my blasphemy and stalked off. Conversely, I saw a guy quietly and politely go up to another friend of mine -who is an atheist- and give him a Bible, saying very matter-of-factly, "I'm here if you have any questions." That was it, no YOU WILL BURN IN HELL. Atheist friend blew up.

I guess what I'm really getting at is that due to human nature, people see differing views as an attack.

I don't. But some here in R & S can get pretty nasty. (as can other sides too) I guess what I don't understand is some of the anger behind some atheists. I mean, hey, if you don't believe, things should not bother you. No one is, or can force you to believe or do anything in this country. You're not forced to participate. If you don't believe it Should Not bother you, and you can just walk away......yet all the anger.

Most religions teach that anyone who does not believe in their religion is bad! So, they treat atheists like the enemy, because, although they talk "tolerance" and "peace" in public, they believe that they are the chosen ones and you are Satan's worker. Also, I think they just don't like what you represent - with no God, there is no heaven and no eternal life! What the hell will they do then?!

I don't think athiest people are horrible at all. I just think they are horribly wrong.
