Yes you have symptoms of being depressed. My son is exactly like you. He is 14 years old and is ADHD. He takes Conserta as well. He also takes Wellbutrim for his depression. He was always so very negative and unhappy. Now with his Conserta and his antidepressant, he is much happier. I think it helps him to bring more things into perspective for him. He is also getting older and learning more how to control his temper, moods, etc...he is coping much better. There is a future for you. You gotta want it. The world is not against you sweets...make your decision to make something of your life, use your meds to help you get there. Talk to your doctor and ask about an antidepressant. Tell him or her how you are feeling, etc...this medicine is a great addition to my son's ADHD meds Conserta. Be sure to talk to your parents and go see your doctor. You can do this! You have a future and I am gonna root for ya! Take care kiddo!

I wouldn't be surprised if you were having some feelings of depression. Whether or not it is a depression that requires medication is the question. I assume you have struggled with ADD for some time and dealing with the effects of that day in and day out can be overwhelming and tiring. That is normal. And many of your depression symptoms are most likely connected to the self-esteem problems that occur as a result of having ADD. I would recommend finding someone to talk to about this. It is also possible that if the Concerta helps you in anyway you will be able to achieve more than you have up until this point and with that will come increased feelings of self-worth.

I just read a book called "Only a mother could love him: My life with and triumph over ADD" by Ben Polis and many of the symptoms you have described seem to go hand and hand with ADD and once he was able to figure some things out many of these symptoms went away.

Good luck to you

Depression can have many symptoms. I have depression and have for years, It runs in my family. Some of the symptoms are sleeping too much or too little, Feelings of helplessness or hopefulness, feelings of sadness , irritability, restlessness., Eating too much or too little, lack of motivation. For some people depression can be a temporary situation or long lasting. From what I have read and studied because of my own depression some doctors say if you have been depressed for more than 2 weeks you should consult a doctor. I did it really helped me. Anti-depressants are good when needed and taken under the advice of your doctor.

I am depressed too. I am 13 and i am doing sooo much. I have dyslexia, which effects my school work, I have non-verbal disorder (verry much like ADD, slight difference, dont know what it is), and have autheritist. Plus i am doing two million things. I personally am cutting my self BUT WHAT EVER YOU DO DONT CUT YOUR SELF! it leves scars and makes you feel guilty doing it. One of my million activities is karate. It is relaxing and you can get your anger out in a healthy way. Or you can go into the arts. I do photography, acting and chourus. those help me alot too. you can express your self. write your own music or even draw a picture of your feelings. Lastly you can write a letter of whats bothering you, then rip it up and throw it away.
