Definitely don't peel it, rub it, pick at it, anything like that, or the ink will fade. Pat it lightly with a washcloth in the shower, that will help the peeling process along without doing any damage, and be sure to put on a thin layer of triple antibiotic ointment (ie bacetracin, neosporin, etc) once it's clean. This same thing first happened to me when I got my third tattoo and I was stupid and I picked at it and it left some lines smudged, some white with scarring, so in case this does happen, a good thing to be aware of is that most tattoo places have a guarantee on their work. If you notice that the peeling has caused any damage, give your artist a call and let him or her know and they will most likely touch it up at no cost to you. Enjoy it!

Dont touch!!! You should never never touch or play with your tattoo when it is healing. Peeling is a very common natural process when the tattoo is healing, just let it be and moisturize according to the schedule your tattoo artist gave you. It will peel for a few days, but if you pull the skin off, you risk ruining the colors (they may fade or "pull out" of the skin). I have four tattoos and all have peeled, just resist the urge to pick, you will thank me later!!!!

Don't rub it or make anything come off that doesn't want to come off. If you peel the scab off a tattoo, you can ruin the design, make coloring uneven, and have to go back for repairs that will cost more than the original. Mine had a scab and I was just told to keep using the ointment originally given to me.

you have never had a tattoo peel??? are you sure? leave it alone! if you peel the skin off you could pull out some of the ink, causing it to look dull and you'll need a touchup sooner. all of my tattoos have peeled. that's odd.

It's peeling because it is dryed out. Try putting some A & D Ointment on it and DONT peel it, you can pull some color out. You will notice that the flakes are colored but this shouldnt effect the tatt much.

DON'T peel it!!! Let it come off naturally. Put lots of cream on it. It probably got too dry. Don't be surprised when you need a touch up.

DON'T PEEL IT OFF!
just keep it moisturized, and it will heal itself and come off with time. if you peel it off, the skin underneath isnt healed yet and the ink will come out of your skin leaving a lighter spot whenever the whole tattoo is healed.

do not do any peeling or scratching what so ever it will itch too but leave it,the scabs come off naturally its weird that your artist has not told you that or even given you an ointment for it .

As you wash it, then the dead skin will eventually come off, but do not peal it off...continue to use your ointment.
