I would recommend trying a free antivirus software program. "Free" software does not mean "inferior" software. There have been several studies which show free antivirus software is very effective and reliable. The 3 most popular free antivirus programs are: Grisoft's AVG, Avast and Antivir. All 3 can be found on filehippo.com:

For more information, please read the following article:

It is a great article which examines the pro's and con's of each antivirus. For a more exhaustive list of security software, go to

Hmm..if you really want a free antivirus system, try SystemDoctor. it's for free download, but I'm not sure of it's accuracy. But it's always better to play safe to pay for a renewal as it is normally more reliable than free antivirus software. I recommend Norton, because Norman can only filter certain kind of spyware and virus.

Hi my 16 year old took out the Norton that I was paying for and put in the free AVG and it works a lot better. The Norton was slowing down the system and it ran real slow. This is a good program and I would recommend it also. I'm glad my son did that and I sure hope I get my money back from Norton. Good luck.

get the free antivirus. i don't think it's worth it to pay $100 for a program. i've heard avg antivirus is very good, but i use symantec which i get free through my school.

never pay for anti virus protection as all that you have to pay for, bog you down, cause you problems and they are just taking your money.

just google the following items:

Ad-aware 6.0 or professional
eTrust PestPatrol
HijackThis
Spybot
WinPatrol
CCleaner
Spyware Blaster

this is all you need, nothing more. will stop any spam, any virus, any registery take over, everything. just remember to update them from time to time, and they are 100% free and all rated as top notch by computer magazines, sites, even the news channels.
