Hi, Rennes Le Chateau is a medieval village in the Languedoc area in the south of France, at the foothills of the Pyrenees mountains, in the 1950s it became famous for the rumours that some fantastic treasure was discovered in a small local church, by a Priest called Beringer Sauniere.
it has since been proven that this was a hoax, and by this time much fantasy has grown up around this church.
it has become the focus of many conspiracy theories concerning the Knights Templar and the supposed Holy Grail, but as yet nothing has been proven regarding any of this.
the novel `the Da Vinci Code rode on the back of the claims of this church and has increased tourism to an unknown level.
it is possible that Sauniere dug up the grave of a rich medieval merchant and this is the treasure that he found.
