Dark tint on a window blocks the view of the police from seeing your activities inside your vehicle. If criminals could be invisible they would rule the world. A cop approaching a vehicle with tinted windows has no idea whether you are peeing in your pants nervous or whether you are cocking the hammer on a 38 caliber pistol. Put yourself in thier shoes but do so with some history of how many cops have been blown away by bad guys hidden behind tinted windows.

The search is legal if the officer could articulate why the search of your car was legal. IE dark tinted windows, driving suspiciously, in a know high crime area, things like this. The vehicle is one of the few places an officer can conduct an warrantless search. Also, in certain states, you can actually go to jail for any breach of the law. Therefore, depending on where you were you have two choices 1) tell the officer no and live with the fact that he will find about another 30 violations to ticket you for and you may possibly go to jail and then have to pay bail AND pay to get your car back or 2) just let him search. Most officers will not conduct a search of your vehicle for 'shits and giggles' they truly believe that there may be something illegal in the car.

I have dark tint on my car also. For some reason it seems to make you a target. From what I understand a cop has to have probable cause to search your vehicle. I wouldn't have gotten out.

Whats "dirty" about that? He just was doing his job. Tinted windows make Police suspicious! So - it is their habit to check the contents of All vehicles that have their windows "tinted" and especially if they are "tinted" very dark. In my Province of Ontario, the Police can order you to remove a "dark tint" - and if you use your Brain, you would know why!

If he ask you can i search your truck, and you gave him the ok. It is Legal. If he just went and search the truck and did not ask you, He can;t do that. If you where not wanted for anything. And he did not take you to jail.

Cops don't just search vehicles. Tell the whole story. Don't try to one-side this.

Yes. but the question is. Did anyone video him beating you with his baton? after you got out of the car or plant drugs in your car to railroad you.
