Yes, I have. I'm afraid I'm guilty of that myself sometimes.

It may sometimes happen, but not always. At least on a couple of occasions, my answer was picked by the asker who said he frankly did not agree with my answer, or most of my answer, but felt I had answered it thoroughly. I was surprised.
On the other hand, for the asker to pick the answer - it's kind of difficult. If he doesn't agree with the answer, it's normal that he doesn't feel the answer was satisfactory.
On the other hand if he just wants an answer that says "way to go, bro", or simply underlines in a funny or sarcastic way the criticism implied in the question, then the asker is not exactly being very "intellectual" (the kind of question you are referring to is not necessarily intellectual either!)
Actually I rarely answer the kind of question that is only intended to voice a criticism of someone's beliefs, because I feel it is not a question. Sometimes, however, I do answer in order to set the record straight (according to my way of thinking). But I certainly wouldn't expect to be picked as best answer in those cases.

That's almost always the case, not just in religion, but in any opinionated issue. (Politics being another prime example.) Most of the time people choose the answer that most fits their belief.

cris, that is not always true. I have picked those who oppose my view many times and I have picked those who encouraged me in my faith many times. It just depends on the question and what I'm looking for at the time. Humor most often will win with me but deep sharing will do it for me also.

I think it's natural to pick one which reflects your own viewpoint.
