I've had swollen lymph nodes for a couple of years now. I was sick a lot the first year, but my adenoids were taken out and i haven't been sick since february. The lymph nodes that were swollen from the beginning are in my neck, and right below where my head turns into my neck, the tonsillar lymph nodes I think they are called.
Well after i had my adenoids taken out, the swelling went down considerably. I have one still very swollen, the size of my fnger nail in my throat, but it's been like that ever since I can remember so I doubt it's serious. The others have gone down in size a great deal and are a tiny bit swolen, just a little.
I take 2 grams of vitamin C daily, and I haven't gotten sick since February and have fought off several colds.
I'm asking this question because I felt a tiny bump when i pushed in from my neck, felt like it was attached to my throat. It's not my adams apple. Its directly below the chin, where you can feel the throat, its in the middle. What could it be?

If it helps anymore....it's very tiny, like smaller than a pencil eraser. its like right above my adams apple but all the way at the top under my chin. My lymph nodes are swelling a little and in pain and I feel like I'm coming down with a cold.
I stopped taking Vitamin C also a couple of weeks ago but last night started using it again after i found this.
I have an appointment with my doctor already. It feels like a lymph node but It just doesnt seem like a lymph node would be there. I mean there are lymph nodes at that exact location but on the sides of my neck (tonsillar lymph nodes) but I've never heard of one being right smack in the middle.
Thanks for those who answered already.

The lymph nodes behind my ears have been swollen since about second grade (I'm a junior in college). They don't hurt, they just stay swollen (like a very hard kidney bean). The doctor is unconcerned. Saying that, a friend of mine just had lymph nodes that wouldn't go down removed. As it turns out, she had Cat Scratch Fever a while ago and I guess they just went haywire. Talk to your doctor, if he isn't concerned, then I wouldn't stress.

hmmm well first the lymph nodes swell as a result of bacteria, they collect it so it doesnt spread so i think its just that, bacteria.
I honestly suggest going to a doctor. Instincts are typically right and since this is obviously causing you some anxiety i think you should get it checked out

If you aren't fevered then wait a day or two. My daughter and I just had the same thing. I called Dr and they said with fever to come in because it was probably bacterial infection and we would need anti biotics. Due to sever weather we couldn't make it, about 40 hours later we were both fine. It was virus. Glad we didn't take unnessary meds and saved ourselves $70 in co pay. If you start to feel worse call your dr. Will say prayer for you right now.

I would have the doctor check this out but, I wouldn't loose any sleep over it. You say your coming down with a cold, that explains some of it, could be a little infection there.

You need to go back to the Dr and have it checked out, it's difficult to tell what it is here on this forum.
