I was told that my dog Mack has a tick borne disease, ampimosis (misspelled?) what is it?

It is a tick borne disease...My vet left a message on my machine. I will call him tomorrow but it will drive me crazy until then.

Where are you from?In the U.S.,the most common tick-borne diseases in dogs are Erlichiosis and Babesiosis.Erlichiosis is treatable with antibiotics,but Babesiosis is much more serious and difficult to treat,and there have been cases of humans catching it.I think it is probably the Erlichiosis.I hope you and your dog will be OK.
