Because it is natural to call on the one who promised to never leave or forsake you. He has promised to always be there for us. When I remember that He is there during times of urgency, it is a great comfort.

There is an old saying " there are no atheists in fox holes". When in trouble we all say " oh, God". It is part of the human condition. When we at at our lowest ebb we tend to hope there is a God and all that He is about. Even if we tell ourselves in the better times of our lives that we don't need him or even believe. There truly are no atheists in fox holes.

people use god to solve their problems. look at this: every religion has some type of afterlife. this is because they're afraid to die and don't want to believe that when you die, you're...dead. gone.
i'm an atheist, so i can look at this differently from a lot of people, and i'm sorry if i insulted you.
