ok, I am fluent in Italian .
A lot of italians use a slang word when they want to say a man is hot, now it depends on some people and regionality as well.
some use : bono, bonazzo, or BEL FIGO. In the northen area bel figo, or just figo is mostly used.REMEMBER THIS IS SLANG.
Now you can say to a man who is attractive , tu sei attraente(you are attractive), affascinante, bello(beautiful, handsome), and that is not slang. Well if you tell an italian man TU SEI UN BEL FIGO, (tu sei =you are)he will definitely smile .

Bello works just fine. But never use "bella".
