Jesus, GitEmGang. "Grow a brain?" Sorry, but I haven't had a puppy since I was a kid. I'm 45 now. How to potty train a dog is not something people just innately know how to do. I, too, came here looking for information on potty training a 5 week old. And if I were to "take it back where I got it" I would be leaving it on the side of the highway where I found it abandoned.
Chill out, dude. Seriously.

It's too early, it should be with it's mother for a MINIMUM of 6 weeks. You should still be bottle feeding it if it's only 5 weeks if it's away from it's mother. Worry about potty training in a few weeks after it's at least 8 or nine weeks old.
And in under a week is impossible for ANY dog it takes at least a month to get it down completely.

First, as the others have said, your puppy is WAY too young.
Second, and this is very important, do not expect your dog to understand a command unless and until you have repeated it 30 times. 30 times and then the dog can get a correction for the wrong behavior, but you can't just say go potty a couple times and then punish the pup if he makes a mistake.
There's no rushing in dog training. Slow and steady wins the race. Patience is REQUIRED if you are to raise/train an animal.
If your goal is to potty train the puppy, then start with crate training. Your pup is awfully tiny so his bladder cannot hold for very long, but crate training is a great way to train your dog to respect you, not potty in his crate, and learn bladder control. That's not to say they won't mess their crate, but they really try not to.
As I've said though, your pup is much too long to consider having it stay a whole day without going potty.
http://www.leerburg.com is an incredible resource for training your pet. Since you are going to have a rather large dog, start training immediately. Training starts with you and benefits your dog.
Good luck!

I doubt you can and you really should not have a five week old puppy. Puppies should stay with their mothers until they are at least nine weeks old. I wouldn't be surprised if your puppy never fully catches on to the potty training. It could even develop some behavior problems. The longer puppies stay with their mothers, the more they learn.

A dog should be trained on how to eat, walk with you, not to bark, potty training and sleep on its place etc. You can teach anything to your puppy, dogs get trained easily with some good instructions. If you want some good training tips visit https://tr.im/thedogtrainer
If properly trained, they should also understand whistle and gesture equivalents for all the relevant commands, e.g. short whistle or finger raised sit, long whistle or flat hand lay down, and so on.
It's important that they also get gestures and whistles as voice may not be sufficient over long distances and under certain circumstances.

Hi, I understand that you are looking for some advice or resources to help fully train your dog or fix behavior problems. If a professional dog trainer is not an option at this time, or if you want to trt training your dog on your own (a great way to bond), I'd suggest you https://bitly.im/aMQWf
A friend recommened it to me a few years ago, and I was amazed how quickly it worked, which is why I recommend it to others. The dog training academy also has as an excellent home training course.

I'm not exactly sure yet but I have a 8 week old puppy and we are teaching her how to go in and out of the doggie door and if your dog has a favorite place to go potty inside then all you need to do is block that place off because if it is that smart to find a favorite place in the house it can defiantly learn how to use a dog door.
