i asked this question yesterday but perhaps due an over long & perhaps inflamatory explanation of the question it never got answered. instead of answering the question as to why Christians seem not to grasp why nonChristians get angry with Christians for interferring with & seeking control of their lives (via interjection of Christian dogma into our secular government and society) i was given Bible verse as to why Christians feel it's their duty to do so.
i already know that Christians believe they are on a "mission from God" to intrude in & seek to control the lives of nonChristians.

the question was/is ...Why can't Christians seem to understand that it's those unasked for intrusions in and unwanted effects on their lives that nonChistians resent and that causes the "persecution" Christians feel they "suffer" (ie "bashing")? (and NOT envy, fear, immorality & an aversion to truth as Christians prefer to think).

more simply put. if Christians minded their own souls and business they wouldn't get "bashed". what's so hard to understand about that?

no padwinlearner ... you are not understanding the question. you are within your rights to participate in democracy but nonChristians get resentful when your participation adversely effects their lives. the question is ... why can you Christians not understand that resentment and the reasons why you get "bashed"?

too egocentric to walk, for a minute, in a nonChristian's shoes perhaps?

Hi, just logged in and spotted your question and I think that you have a good point there, I am a Catholic and not a great one may I admit, I can be a hypocrite at times and this is my failing and my own fault.
I try my best not to preach to anyone and prefer just to give advice if I am asked, but even this is pompous if I do not practice my faith, and for this I am no role model at times.
I do believe in free will and choice and I do get embarrassed when fellow Christians do the Bible thumping bit,I believe that we should do less talking and more walking, for it is always by example that people are touched and so little by overbearing preaching.
I am tired of hearing others condemn people to Hell and such talk that Jesus Himself would not do as He judged no-one, yes I am far from perfect and I tell you honestly that I to am tired of hearing the same condemnations day after day.
I cannot apologize for these people but only for myself, they need to come down from the glorified pedestal that they perch on and behave with respect and dignity.
to finish it is good to be able to say that not all who follow Jesus are religious tyrants and these seldom get heard.
regards to you.

I don't get the problem. This country was founded by people who left their homeland and made a perilous journey for the ability to worship God freely and without persecution. Given that, I'm failing to see why my beliefs and open worship can be considered an "intrusion" into your life and our "secular" government? Our government and society were certainly NOT established as secular. It has become so over the course of years. If I choose to follow God as my ancestors came here to do so many years ago I am not attempting to control your life but rather hold to the values and government my ancestors set in place so that I COULD worship God freely.

We don't care that you get angry with us for telling you the truth. We are instructed by the Bible to do so. Your blood is on my hands if I don't do what I can to save your soul. I have no desire to control your life. My desire is to see everyone saved. The only thing I'm having a hard time grasping here is why that would be so offensive to someone that we care about you enough to try to help you.

The sayings of Jesus are clean to everyone that has a Palestinian Jewish approach of the Meridian of time. it extremely is barely cutting-edge guy that would not ';get' what Jesus substitute into saying. the main situation lies interior the mangled version that Catholicism has distributed with the aid of uninspired sources for 1600 years and the incorrect highway that Protestants took in warm pursuit of their acquaintances at Rome. lots of the sayings of Jesus are certainly shrouded in secret, and Jesus substitute into the 1st to assert so. I fail to be certain any connection between prosperity coaching and something Jesus pronounced. His guidance to no longer lay up treasures in the international yet to acquire them in heaven could look to knock Prosperity coaching on the top and thoroughly corpsify it. The 'damaging in spirit' are people who're no longer proud, boastful, grasping, yet are humble, teachable, and pliant. it extremely is not rocket technological expertise. it extremely is plenty harder than that.

It is good that you understand that Christians view that it is their mission as Christians per se to promote, defend and extend their morality even to non-Christians. It stems from the belief that their morality is universal - thus all-embracing and all-inclusive.

Now with regards to your question, I believe that Christians realize that they are in a sense proletizing non-believers to adhere to their belief. And unfortunately, countries who has strong Christian population has the power to dictate social issues and thus non-believers tend to react violently.

Non-believers must see that this is reality - an interplay of forces through power. And if hegemony is not on your side, then unlucky you, but the battle will and must be fought continually.

This is the case for countries where Christianity is a minority. A lot of them gnash their teeth and cletch their fist because they cannot openly practice their faith - but that is reality. And the struggle for power must go on.

It's human nature, not simply Christianity. When a person believes something completely, they want to share it with others. They often believe it's the best possible solution to problems.

Sometimes that belief leads to the inability to consider other alternatives or results. Sometimes it leads to decisions in spite of other alternatives or the results of the decisions.

Good question for a change. Well to answer for one many misunderstand that when one believes in something that belief affects their life. You don't want Christian beliefs injected into society because you want society to be according to what You believe it should be. You want your way of life to be the rule for society. In reality that is your religion. Religion is nothing more than a belief system and everyone has what they believe. So I hope you see that both sides are after the same thing to have their belief system the norm for society. Now hopefully you can see that Christians believe God who created all things knows best how all things should run and so they want society based on His principles. Those who don't believe in God want something else according to their belief. Its not always wanting to jamb something down someones else's throat but wanting the society we live in to be run according to what we believe is the right way. Everyone is subject to this. No one wants society to be totally lawless. No one wants criminals to rule getting away with rape, murder, theft etc. We like it to be what we think is the best for us to live in peaceably. So naturally Christians think and want the principles of Gods word (where we get the idea of right and wrong like do not steal etc.) to be used. Many seem to think Christians only want to put their ways on others but a lot of what they want is a society that they are sure is best for all. So many think and refuse to believe our society was not based on religious principles yet it is freedoms itself that is a Christian principle including freedom of religion. All our main laws get there basis from the Bible (Do unto others) So as in any group Christians don't want to see society crumble around them and should be able to speak their peace and promote their way of society as all the other groups are. No matter what we end up with it will be one groups belief of what they believe. So to tell any group to but out is not freedom but suppression.

I do understand. And like those who get upset with christians for intervening in matters that affect all, I too resent nonbelievers thinking only they can choose what is best for society and country.

If I am reading your question correctly, you are asking why Christians take part in the democratic process here in America. We vote our conscience - as do all the non-Christians. Why should it be different for us? Every person who casts a ballot in the United States is voting according to their own beliefs. They vote for the candidate they think most correctly represents their own opinion. Some vote for people who are pro-choice - they think it's okay to have an abortion - they have no problem with a woman terminating a pregnancy because they do not view the unborn child as a person. I vote the opposite way because I do think that an unborn child is a person and that abortion kills it - and to me that is murder. Why should I not be allowed to vote according to my beliefs, when everyone else votes according to theirs?

A whole religion of sales people. Forcing their beliefs in our government is their way of advertising. Sales people are all over the place, we are bombarded with all kinds of sales pitches, why would the religious be any different.
