In reference to the officer not being charged, are we speaking about charged with the offense of disregarding a stop sign or possibly manslaughter? In ref to disregarding the stop sign, he should have been charged. In ref to manslaughter, very few civilians would be charged with that either unless they drunk, speeding, etc. As far as the drunk cop goes, he should have been charged with DUI/DWI. Depending on how long ago it happened, its possible that he hasnt been charged yet. Most police depts I know will charge an officer, more quickly than a civilian, when an accident involving bodily harm. We had an officer here that was speeding and killed a girl. He was given a year in prison, and he did that year. I cant name one civilian who has ever been given a sentence like that for merely speeding and causing a wreck involving death. The bottom line, though, is that very few officers like to charge other officers. It would be like your co-worker, someone who you are friends with, being able to take you to jail. Im not argueing that it is right, only trying to answer your question.

It depends on how badly you are hurt, and what they need to do to you. If you need a urinary catheter, have a lot of trauma, need lower extremity or abdominal films/CT etc, they will remove all your clothes. If you aren't hurt too bad, they may leave your underware on. If you are alert & talking & have no complaints, you will get into a gown. Even so, you will be covered up as much as possible once undressed. This is because the only way to see if there is some type of hidden trauma is to SEE everything. Its important. Also, no one is leering at you naked. They are professionals & have seen it all before. They are only interested in helping you. Try not to think of it too much & hopefully you will never need to find out!

that Si a good question...one time my parents witnessed and accident where the cop was speeding and passing lights (with no sirens or lights on) because he was responding to a burglary call and hit a car from behind and killed the 3 people inside that vehicle...although the cop was reprimanded (not fired though) he still kept his job...even though investigators asked my parents what happened they put in their final report that the cop had his lights on which should have been enough for people to stop and give way to him.

we do need to hold cops to a higher standard but it won't happen anytime soon.

Politics, if these cops get charged it looks bad for the police station they work for. Not only does it look bad for the police station but the city, state they work in.
If you do not live in Oregon go to the www and see what our cops are doing to people!! Disgraceful!

I don't know about the cases you mentioned. The most recent cases in my area resulted in the Officers death. Its hard to charge a dead man with anything.

It is a shame that the small amount of bad police officers will hurt the few good officers that still exist. I wonder if police officers were picked on at a young age?

In both cases, did they write their own police report?

They wrote a horrendously mistaken police report when my wife and I were rearended a year and a half ago. We still haven't finished the proceedings.

THEY didn't get off scott free for the rest of his or her life thy will have to live with the fact that they killed someone. The City will pay out possibly millions to the familys of those dead teens. Making your taxes go up.
