Hmmm...

She may be a holder. A holder is a child who holds in their stool due to the fear of it hurting when it comes out. This is due to a bad experience or two while trying to go to the bathroom while constipated. Many children end up tearing the lining of their anus and they develop fisures. Psychologically they do not want to experience this same pain again and begin to hold their stool. Well, we know that what goes in, must come out and over time, the body begins to force the matter out against the desires of the child, thus the child soils their underware.

Ask her if it hurts her bottom when she goes to the bathroom. Ask her it there is any blood on the tissue when she whipes or any blood in the toilet after she is done. Many children will hide what is going on until someone asks them. Fear can silence children. She may think something is seriously wrong with her or that it is normal to soil her pants due to her situation. A doctor can provide stool softener and instruct her parents on a change in diet and more fluid intake.

Best of luck!

I would have to know the whole story. Most nurses will call a family to try to get them to come up with clean underwear, but a nurse is not allowed to touch a child to clean them. A 2nd grader could remove her underwear and clean herself up, and many schools have a spare pair of undies to give a child. Chances are the clothing was dirtied also. The responsibility for what happens would go to an administrator. If it was late in the day, they probably wouldn't call home, or if they did, perhaps no one answered. What else can you do but let the child sit in it except ask the child to clean herself up? I don't think 20 minutes is very long at all. Even if she had called and gotten a parent, it would have taken many of them 20 minutes to get to school. Don't blame the nurse. It's out of her control. I would suggest you leave a clean pair of undies in the nurse's office in case this happens again. Many parents do that.

One of two things. Either shes rebelling/attention issue or she is having a physical problem. Analyze what's going on in her life. Any sudden changes or upsets? Is she complaining about stomach aches? Ask her...she's old enough to tell you what's up. I would suggest you approch her in a subtle caring way, so she isn't intimidated, embarassed, etc. You want her to trust you.

Maybe she thinks she has to fart but it is actually poop. Maybe the parents should spend some time with her to help her poop in the toilet.

my brother used to do this. he was too embarrassed to ask the teacher to go to the bathroom tell your sister or brother to talk to the child and the teacher. the parents need to make sure the teacher isnt denying her the chance to go to the bathroom when she asks. this was part of thr problem with my brother. as have the parents take her to the doctor

She is not potty trained obviously. She probably has a nervous habit, and doesn't even do it intentionally. I'm sure she feels embarrassed and doesn't want to be crapping in her pants... she should see a doctor.
