I am not a Catholic but I feel led to answer this question! John CH.3 covers a conversation between Jesus and Nicodemus. Jesus is attempting to tell Nicodemus that he must be born again. (born from above) In his attempts to tell Nicodemus Jesus explains firstly that he has encountered physical birth (born of water) Now he goes on to tell him that he must experience a spiritual birth as well as flesh and blood can not inherit the kingdom of heaven (because it has sin in it) This whole idea that original sin can be washed away by baptism is totally false as baptism comes only after a person has become born again,Is the answer of a clear conscience toward God,is the first act of obedience as a child of God and fits one out for service to the Lord. The scriptures are clear on the issue that we are powerless to do anything about our inner condition by ourselves "as by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified" which is to say we can't wash away any sin original or otherwise by our own efforts as only the blood of Christ can cleanse us from all sin. Little wonder the Lord will destroy the Catholic Church during the tribulation as they had no basis to even exist as a Church in the first place and are an abomination before the Lord. Revelations Ch.17 V1-9 tells us this!

I am not Catholic, but if you want scripture, I can give you a couple to start with.
John 3:3 Jesus replied, "I assure you, unless you are born again, you can never see the kingdom of God."
1 Peter 1:23 For you have been born again. Your new life did not come from your earthly parents because the life they gave you will end in death. But this new life will last forever because it comes from the eternal, living word of God.
John 1:12-13 But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. They are reborn. This is not a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan - this rebirth comes from God.
Catholics teach that you are reborn through baptism and confirmation.
Evangelical Protestans teach that you are reborn when you make a concious decision to receive Christ as your personal savior and follow him for the rest of your life. If it is a genuine conversion, your whole persective of life changes as you grow in your Christian walk.
Baptism follows your conversion. You can be born again after you have reached the age of accountability, which is different for all people.
Hope that I answered you question to your satisfaction.
It is great that you are searching for answers. Blessings.

You don't have to be Catholic to answer this question. To be born again simply means that you have a renewing of the spirit. You want to change your ways and follow Christ. Romans 7:6 says "But now, by dying to what once bound us, we have been released from the law so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit, and not in the old way of the written code." Also see John 1: 12-13 "Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God - Children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband's will, but born of God."
I personaly believe that if you are "born again" you are simply Christian. After all that is what a Christian is. Someone who decides to change their ways when they realize they haven't been doing such a great job at their own life doing things their own way. God bless and I hope you find the answers you are looking for.

It's not a born again Catholic, it's a born again Christian. That means that you were turned from God and you went back to him through faith or baptism. It pretains to scriputure because it's dealing with repentance and deliverance from evil.

When we we first born, we have inherited original sin from Adam & Eve. Through Baptism, we are washed clean of original sin, and are "reborn". We can still commit personal sins, but original is is washed away forever, and we are reconciled with God.

baptism. Don't you know that a sudden burst of water always means imminent birth? Every woman can tell you that.
