i mean... it's not like you're going to marry each other... and isn't the whole point of dating, as an adult, to find your future spouse?

Who says you won't marry each other?? It is totally possible.
I started dating my current husband while in the 8th grade. We have been together for almost 17 years , married for 10.

My mom started dating my Dad at 13 and they were married for 20 years before he died.

Dating is meant to help find someone you would want to spend your life with, but that doesn't mean that is all. Some people never intend on marrying yet will continue to date. It is fun, socially expected and let's face it, people just don't want to be alone.
Date and have fun.

there's no point as far as relationships go. Its just like a fad- if you don't have a boyfriend or girlfriend, you're not cool. Kids just think they HAVE to be dating- like a right of passage. Sometimes I guess its for fun. In highschool its fine- some people meet the loves of their lives in high school- but I think its stupid for kids under the age of 16.

Hell no. Dating is for any reason that you want it to be. A chance to get lucky. A chance to get to know someone that your interested in. A chance to learn how to act around women. A chance to go to a movie with someone other than your buds. It's what we do.

Now long term monogamous relationships in middle school are stupid. In High School, inevitable. What pisses me off, none of my business, but I think it's incredibly stupid, is when High School girls choose to stay local and not go away to college because of some stupid boyfriend that they can't leave behind. What a limitation on the possibilities of life!

Yes, and that's why you should not date at 13 and 14, even 15. Make friends. Start dating later. Dating helps you to learn to interact with the opposite sex.

Yes, I've never understood what is the point in dating so young. I think it's just to have sex. Teens aren't responsible enough and mature enough to understand what a relationship is.

no dating is not about that alone its the enjoyment of the company with others and learning the social ways of being alone or with others in a intimate, casual or formal manner as to prepare you for your adult experince
