Just because Karl Marx said that religion is the opium of the masses doesn't mean that it is. He was a disgruntled atheist looking for a way to escape the God he hated, hence he created a political system that was truly godless that ended up killing over 100 million in the 20th century alone.
If religion is a drug, it's better than the poison of Marxism.

The saying is from Karl Marx, founder of communism in the USSR. A nice guy too. A real hero for atheists everywhere. Just full of justice, especially for Christians of all sorts.
But how would you know? Your schools are too busy teaching alternative lifestyles.

I think Lenin said that. According to him, I guess we are drug dealers. You will have to decide for yourself if religion is only a drug. That would take some personal investigation on your part.
(Perhaps it was Marx, as Nia says - I defer to her, as I haven't been into that for a long time).

If you are going to sling epithets, you might as well get them right. Karl Marx said religion is the "opiate" of the masses.
